Hi guys new member here. I want to go to disney on august 19-21. I would like to stay at either the Fren Quarter at Port Orleans or the Animal Kingdom Lodge. Those are my two favorites. Can anyone tell me how to get the best deal for both. I am a florida resident too by the way. The room is for 2 adults also.

I also plan on getting that 3 day play pass with the park hopper...is that a good idea?

There are lots of codes available for August - general public and AP/FL resident. I don't know what availability is left, but I'd head over to the discounts part of the site and take a look at the details (http://www.wdwinfo.com/discounts.html).

As for your resort choices, AKL is all but shut down for guests until Septmber (maybe beyond) because of construction. They are actually rerouting most of the guests who already have reservations there. You'd probably have much better luck with PO-FQ, which is a lovely resort. There are a number of threads about the AKL situation on the main resorts board if you want more details, though.

Happy planning!

I'm assuming that you are a first time visitor. As you begin to plan, you may feel a little overwhelmed. It's impossible to do everying in such a short time. So read everything you can (I am a big fan of hitting the library and checking out every WDW book they have) decide what's most important to you and plan an itinerary.

Have fun!:hippie:

Here's some special rates that are in the "Florida Residents" special deals section of the WDW website:

Thanks for the replies...actually its my 15th or 16th time going but im only 20 and havnt been there since i was 15. (we used to go every year or twice a year)...so im taking me and my girlfriend and i booked it yesterday and we are staying at the port orleans (king bed room) and got the 3 day play pass with park hopper and waterpark. our total was $612 so I think we got a great deal...Is there any deals on dining???

Is there any deals on dining???

Well for dining you have 2 options - you could purchase the Disney Dining Experience Card for FL Res and use it for a discount on your food - more info about the DDE is here on the DIS:

http://www.wdwinfo.com/disneydiningexperience.htm

DISNEY DINING EXPERIENCE is a dining discount program for eligible Florida Residents and Annual Passholders 21 and older good for 20 percent off food and beverage at a number of Walt Disney World Resort hotel and theme park restaurants and lounges. The discount is good for up to 10 persons in your party. (Prior to 2005, the DDE, as it is commonly called, was only open to Florida residents.) General Membership (Florida Residents): $85.00 per year

Or you could add dining to your current reservation but you would need to make your reservation over into a package that includes at least a one day MYW base ticket per person. (It has to include that particular base ticket to add dining). So if you did that you could still add the FL Res 3 day Play Passes and maybe save the MYW base ticket for another stay. It would be great if you could pay a little more to upgrade the required MYW base ticket to the 3 day Play Pass, but I don't think that's possible - you should check it out though! I know that there are ticket experts on the DIS (like Cheshire Figment) who could answer that :) Otherwise, I think you'll find that having to purchase that MYW base ticket x 2 just in order to then add the dining (DDP @ $38.99 per person, per day) will add too much $$$ if you're trying to keep a budget trip going this time - though you do have to keep in mind that you would have 2 tickets to use the next time ....

I'm guessing it looks like your best bet for dining is to buy the Disney Dining Experience Card for FL Res! :rotfl:

If you turned it into a package, adding dining plan and a one day myw ticket you can take that ticket when you arrive and apply it towards the 3 day play pass. that way you arent out any extra $ for the myw ticket. Just a thought.

We have a package during the free dining and will be applying our one day myw tickets towards the 3 day play pass.
