What is the best day to go to Animal Kingdom?

We will be going to Orlando 04/25 -05/01 and will be taking our 18 month old to AK. What is the best day to go and do you have any good tips for the AK.

Hey Champagne93,

The one thing I would advise is to definately bring something with which to shade the baby. The first time we went to AK was during the summer and I roasted. Maybe it was just me, but there didn't seem to be as many places to escape the sun as there are in other parks.

As far as what day to visit, you may try a Monday. I often find that many people visit the Magic Kingdom on Mondays so the crowd would be thinner.

I'm sure you will get many more wonderful suggestions though.

I agree with Master Gracie - keep that baby in the shade and cool! (good advice for the adults too) As for the best day to go - any day but the early entry morning - I don't recall off the top of my head which day that is - unless of course, you're staying on property and can take advantage of the EE morning. AK is pretty easy to do in a half day although we did spend little better than half a day our first time. With an 18 mo old, I would plan on half a day and make sure you go on Kilamanjaro Safari and see the Tree of Life!

Every day!!!!!! LOL! My favorite park. We have gone to EE here, but it is only for the Safari ride and It's tough to be a bug (don't take your little one here - but mom and dad should each see it!) so I wouldn't worry about EE.

But do go at opening as the characters do a little show (The Awakening) that the baby will like. Also go to Rafiki's Planet Watch - petting zoo and neat train ride for your little one. And They have Festival of the Lion King. Both the Gorilla trek and the Tiger trek are nicely shaded, so stroll through these.

They also have a character breakfast here, Donald's Breakfastosaurus.

We found that Saturday is the best day to visit Animal Kingdom. Since it's usually the least crowded of the parks, we go to AK on the day that all the parks are generally higher in attendance. Then we can save the other parks for weekdays, when they're not as historically busy.

Oh, and I'd agree about the heat at AK. If I didn't know better, I'd think Disney orchestrated the heat to add to the atmosphere.

Here's an easy way to remember the EMH days: MADE MAD, beginning on Sunday just like a calendar.

Sun - Magic Kingdom
Mon - Animal Kingdom
Tue - Disney-MGM
Wed - Epcot
Thu - Magic Kingdom
Fri - Animal Kingdom
Sat - Disney-MGM

That said, I would avoid AK on Monday & Friday unless you plan to use the EMH. I'd guess Tuesday would be good since the EMH crowd was there the day before.
