I am trying to get a good price on delta for airfare from phoenix to orlando. I want to try and use delta to be able to get more FF miles. I want to leave as early as possible to arrive early in orlando. The best flight i see is leaving at 540 am and arriving at 2pm. this isnt bad. the other flight listed leaves at 7 am and doesnt arrive until 5pm. I would much rather get to airport at 2, be at resort by 3, check in and go out. the other flight would get us to resort about 6 and then check in and go, which would be pretty late i think.

then there is the price difference. the 5am-2pm flight is 263, while the 7am-5pm flight is 218.I would buy the early flight at 218 no prob, but dont really want to pay 263.

should i try and hope for the rate to go down, or just get into wdw at 5pm. Also, on the day we are scheduled to fly in, there is a shuttle launch tenitively scheduled for 4 pm liftoff. if we get in at 2, we might get a glimpse of it, which i saw from disney once before and it was awesome.

what should i do??

I don't know if its just been a coincidence, but the last two years I found Delta's fares went down on a Saturday.

I'd go with the $218 fare if it were me. The price difference between that and the other one is pretty large (especially if you times it by how many people are going). We've taken a flight that leaves home at 6:00 AM a couple of times. It always sounds so good when I book the flight but the morning we have to leave I always wonder what was I thinking!!!

Good luck whatever you decide!

Have you checked into taking a "red-eye" flight - something that leaves between 9:00 and midnight, arriving in Orlando around dawn? I don't know if Delta has a flight like that - you may have to fly through Cincy or Atlanta. But that would get you there the earliest, and usually is less expensive. It also may be less taxing to you than getting up in the middle of the night to make a 5:40 AM flight.

I dont like missing a whole day at disney by flying, so I leave the night before if possible, $$ and flights permitting. I then stay at a Value for the night. And off to the parks I go the next am. I have my bags sent to the hotel I am going to stay at and call the hotel noon to see if my room is ready if it is and I go settle into the room and take a short nap and off I go to the parks for the pm.

I am lucky my flights are only 3 hours and non-stop for very little difference than the stop over flights.

Is leaving late the night prior an option for you? The Values are only what about $100.

Good luck :wizard:

I used to always take the red eye and loved it!! It left about 11 pm and arrived at 7 am. Since 9/11, i noticed that delta does not have that flight at all anymore. the latest i think is 830 pm. We are getting married on the 13th so we cant leave that night since everyone is coming to town for the wedding, not a lot, but people from CA are coming in. I have told everyone that we are leaving the next morning for orlando and they are all good with it. I would feel bad if we rushed the wedding and then left on everyone by 6 pm to make an 8 pm flight that night.
