What is the BEST cruise tip you ever learned from the Dis?

Pack vinegar to be applied after jelly fish bites. The OP of the jelly fish thread suggested pouring the vinegar on the bite to eleviate the sting. I wonder if the DCL kitchen would provide vinegar so you don't have to pack it. Hmm....just a thought.:scratchin

Pack Benadryl to ease sunburn pain. Saw that suggestion on the LIVE May repo thread.

Best thing I took on my recent cruise... (Not Disney.... that's a dream that's yet to come true in 2006!!).... The Wrinkle spray made by Downey. It's Downey Wrinkle Releaser, I think and I got it at Target ... it actually works!!! I was amazed! ::yes::

The only thing it's NOT good for is deoderizing! (silly roommate used it instead of Febreeze) :rotfl2:

Favorite tips that I used: pack extra duffel bag in you luggage...you'll need it! Also, pack a collapsible cooler in your luggage to keep in your room. Our room steward kept ours iced for us. Great for excursions too!
Tip I didn't use but wish I had...pack one of those power strips with 5 or 6 outlets. Not enough plugs in room, for camcorders, cameras, etc.

My goodness how much luggage does everyone take on a cruise? By the time I put everyones tips in I don't know if I will have room for my clothes. I guess I better go get some space bags at Bed bath and Beyond.

Not sure if this was mentioned yet or not...

Mickey Bars from roomservice - aparently not on the menu

(and I read that you can get Nacho's from Plutos - also not on the menu?)

Will enjoy both in Oct!

vinegar is available from room service!! i had gotten a bad sunburn - soaked wash clothe in it and applied to the burn - took the sting right out!!!

My husband was hungry just before dinner and he said I'm going to find something to eat. I told him he could just order a cheese plate (his favorite food) from room service. He didn't believe me! We found it on the menu and he couldn't believe how quickly it came and he couldn't believe there wasn't an extra charge (he loved that part too!).

Just joining in on all the fabulous tips and tidbits. Thank you every one for the great ideas! :wave2:

not sure if this has been mentioned...(sorry if it's a "repeat")...anyways, have all your addresses pre-labeled before your cruise, on self stick sticker labels, for sending postcards home to friends & families! and bring those address stickers of your home address as well. so when you're in port, or getting postcards from ship...all you have to do is stick one of your return address, stick one of the pre-labeled address of your family/friend, and scribble some message/note, put the stamp on, and there, it's ready to be sent! takes a lot of time out of having to address them. (when you've got around 20 or so to mail...as was the case for me!!) :flower:

I bought a special notebook today so I could write down everyones suggestions. Keep the tips coming!! :earsgirl:

Mary.... what a great idea... !! I bought a journal to take on our cruise to be able to record enough to write a decent "Trip Report" :boat:

We went on our first cruise EVER this past May...just me and the two kids (DS 9 DD 13). I would have known NOTHING and been scared to death if I had not had you guys and all this great info.

a few my favorites...

stay at the Radisson at the Port--THE NIGHT BEFORE!
visit RonJon surf shop...kids LOVED it (me too!)
get to the port early...the time passed soo quickly
order baskets from Ms. Shirley..truly "The Perfect Gift"
the adult pool...those two hours were great! :rotfl2:

THe only regret...I ate tooo much at dinner, Pirate nite, and had no room for the midnight buffett! I'll do that different next time

that's great to hear. I am also ordering from Shirley an Easter basket for my son. Did you custom make yours or did you just pick one out?

We are also staying at Port and plan on going to Ron's.

Thanks for the tips from your vacation. :sunny:

I think EVERY basket Shirley makes is unique and personal...it is obviously done with love. I first considered ordering from DCL...I'm really glad I didn't. I talked with Shirley about what each of my kids like...she had the BEST ideas! I WISH I was close enough for her to do easter baskets...I bet those are GREAT! :Pinkbounc

Shirley just emailed me back and is going to make us our Easter baskets for the cruise. We are cruising over Easter break and my son (he is 6) is wondering how on earth the Easter bunny is going to make it on the ship. I think this will be a fun surprise for him. :goodvibes

I am so excited to hear good reviews about deck 7. Using the tip from "Passporters Guideto Disney Cruise Line" I read bout getting a deck 7 aft room. We leave for our cruise in 19 days and have an inside room near deck on deck 7 aft. :cool1:
