Right now we are booked for a week at the Poly Standard room. We are going the beginning of Nov and need 2 rooms. I have an AP that will still be good. If a good rate comes out I may switch to concierge either at the Poly or an Epcot resort. What is the best rate for concierge that you have been given? Could you please tell me the resort and the time of year you went too. This would be my 1st concierge experience!! I'm so excited!!

For May, we got an AP rate at the Poly, lagoon view, concierge for $357 per night.

I just cancelled my early May AP rate for a concierge room at BC (we decided on 2 rooms at AKL instead). The rate was $385.50/night with tax.

Whoops! That was without tax. With tax it was $427.90. Sorry!

In Oct 2001 we stayed in Poly Concierge for about $318 per nite including tax. We now have ressies for Memorial Day Wkend at AKL Concierge for $369 per nite includes tax. OOPs I fogot to mention these are AP rates.

We have a Poly LV concierge rate for July (value season) for $357 including tax. Last December 6-9 (also value season) we had a Poly GV room for $229 plus tax!! I don't know if we'll ever see those rates again.

We have 4/27-on at Poly conc. LV for $357 incl. tax on the CIF code and then the exact same rate for the third week in August this year in the exact same accomodations but this is the AP rate. I can't remember what I paid last September at Poly LV Conc. but it was obscenely low and I'm sure it was because of the low occupancy situation(this was a code rate). Good luck and really think about all of your discount options. I'm a big rate researcher and I believe a little investigation is definitely worth it. I also pray for pixie dust, rub my rabbit's foot...

We were there in November 2001, and were able to obtain a $240/night rate for Poly Garden view concierge!

I wonder if I can get this rate this year.....

We were there first week of February. GF Lodge Concierge was $321 and BWI was $276 (inc. tax). We could not get a concierge deal at AKL but had the $167 standard savannah view deal. On check in we asked about upgrades and were moved to deluxe savannah view concierge for and extra $100 per night. All were AP deals. The bext deal was at BWI were, when we told them it was our 30th anniversary, they moved us from the concierge floor to a garden cottage.

I have to agree with Karenfm, I don't know if I will see this great rate again, but we paid $254 (includes tax) for Poly GV concierage the week before Easter last year which was (4/6-4/11). We had an AP discount. We really enjoyed ourselves-the kids were off school and the weather was the BEST!! But this year I have tried to get good rates for the week after Easter and the rates are really high for non concierage too. I have a code and pin number for 4/21-6/22 and for $330 you can get the Poly concierage. I don't know if we will see those really unbelieveable rates again. If anyone hears anything, please let me know!! Carolyn

Good grief! $254-almost $400 per night???!!! What is it about concierge that makes this a good rate? Is concierge really worth all this extra money? It is a ROOM after all. Can somebody please explain the benefits of concierge over the regular rooms? Please?

Thanks,

LovesWDW...I agree with your comment about the prices some folks are willing to pay for a room.
I too are interested in what additional benefits a guest gets when they get reserve one of these rooms.

How is $254.00 almost $400.00.

I have found with a AP Concierge is $50 to $70 a night more at the deluxes per night. Worth every penny for my family of 5. You get Breakfast, snacks, Bev, Wine,Cordilas, appitizer buffet&desert buffet everyday. You get the sheets changed everyday on your bed, robes. The staff will book all your PS for you.

I have gotten prices of $249.00 feb Poly GV, BWI $279 june AKL $329.june. all with AP

HINT: using the AP disount if you are told Concierge is not availble with AP rate you can try again at Check-in. If rooms are available the manager can ok this & will.

Why concierge? There are three probable reasons.

1. Some people travel first class and $400 per night is not out of the norm for them to get one of the best rooms.

2. It can be worth the extra expense. Concierge services vary by resort, but for a family of four to get free breakfast is worth a few bucks. Depending on the resort, the "snacks" served st lunch and dinner can also be a quick meal if you're at the resort. Free snacks and drinks all day also save some bucks with kids. Wine and cheese in later afternoon and drinks and desserts in the evening are also a nice touch for tired adults...especially those who want to sit in a quiet area and visit with friends while the kids watch Disney films on a big screen tv. The staff will also give you a lot of individual attention, answer all your questions about WDW, make PS , buy show tickets and book backstage tours. In some resorts, such as Boardwalk, there are staff members who will contact you in the weeks before your visit to help plan your itinerary and book things in advance.

3. My reason for staying at concierge was that I wanted good rooms and BWI and GF were offering concierge at the same or better price than a regular deluxe room on AP if you asked. AKL was only offering a deal on standard rooms but offered an upgrade to deluxe concierge for a similar rate to a regular deluxe room. Had I been offered deluxe rooms without concierge at a similar savings, I would probably have taken it.

makmom, she wasn't saying $254 is almost $400. I read it to mean she was saying FROM $254-400 per night. I also have to agree with her that that is quite a bit of money to spend on a hotel room, especially for a couple a extra snacks. I made all my own PS's w/no problems and we'd have to eat a whole lot to make up the extra cost of concierge. I guess it's all about pampering. I don't plan to be in my room much and I really don't care if my bed is turned down. To each her own.

:) Thanks everyone!! I would love to get the BWI concierge for $254 a night. I guess we will have to wait and see.
MAKmom- thanks for the tip about checking in and asking about an AP rate concierge. I guess i never thought this was possible. If the rate is not available I thought you couldn't get it. How often has this worked for you and how did you do it?

hvsteve1-

About the upgrade at AKL, did you ask for it or was it noffered? If you asked, how exactly did you word it? I have 2 savannah view rooms booked. Didn't feel I needed the deluxe rooms since I got 2 rooms anyway. However, if I could upgrade to concierge for a reasonable price, I'd love to. We eat a light breakfast anyway, so to do it without lines, etc would be great. We also plan on heading back to the resort in the afternoons for a little rest and dip in the pool, so the snacks would be nice too. What are the chances of getting a freebie upgrade? Thanks!

After following these boards in the months before going down I learned two things from the loingtimers: "Always ask for an upgrade on checkin" and "In the event of a birthday, anniversary or other special event, mention it to everyone you deal with".

At AKL, I asked about an upgrade, hoping for a free one. I was offered the deluxe concierge for an additional $100 over the already bargain priced standard savannah view at $167.

At BWI we booked a bargain concierge room for $276. On checkin we were told there were only queen bed rooms available (we had faxed a request for a king room). When I expressed disappointment and pointed out we were celebrating our 30th anniversary, the desk cm went into a back office and came out with the manager who upgraded us to a garden cottege with concierge...at no additional cost. This is a discount of something like 60%. My best advice to anyone is "read the boards". And, of course, mousesavers.
