Hi,

I was wondering what is the best choice for a family of 6 with 4 adult and 2 teens. A royal suite, one two bedrooms, one one bedroom and a communicating cabin, two concierge cabins?

I would get at least 2 rooms. Depending on what ship you are on, the royal suite may only sleep 5. Also depending on who will sleep with whom, and if everyone needs a separate bed, etc. You in essence have 6 full sized people and many of the fold down beds are not that big. If the 4 adults are a pair of couples and can sleep together, I would get 2 rooms. The adults can sleep in the queen bed and you can have 1 teen in each room on the sleeper sofa. And you can do that with concierge rooms if you want.

One thing that's not immediately obvious if you're looking at it is the royal suites on the old ships (Magic/Wonder) have essentially a third bedroom - the 'office' has a wall pull-down bed and can be closed off. So again, it depends on what kind of sleeping arrangements you need and who can share a bed with whom. If it's in the budget (which I'm assuming it is based on your question), I'd definitely go with one of the configurations that includes a suite (either the royal or 2 bedroom, or a 1 bedroom suite with adjoining room) so you have a living room/dining space of some sort.

Well , I want to surprise my family with something special before all our adults kids leave the nest. Because of covid our yearly family vacation in a new country was canceled 3 times. So a cruise in 2022 or 2023 seems fun and safe.

We are a family of 6 - 2 adults, 4, 16 year olds - two of which are over 6 foot. In the past we have gotten two connecting verandah rooms. Like many our last cruise was in 2019 so the kids were smaller/shorter. With the kids being adult sized for our upcoming trip - we got connecting 1 bedroom concierge rooms so we can have more space. You have more square footage that way than with the 2 bedroom (at least on the magic).

So you are one big happy family with mom & dad plus 4 siblings (of which two are adults and two are teens)? That makes a big difference in sleeping arrangements (who's sleeping with whom).
