Hello everybody,

with the help of a very nice DISer who rented us the required points, DH and I (non-DVC members and therefore still generally quite clueless :)) are booked for an 11-night stay in a studio at Beach Club Villas in October.

Now, if these questions have been asked and answered a million times before, I apologize in advance! Maybe you could just point me to the right link, then? :rolleyes1

Anyway, these are the things I am wondering about:

- I know that a studio kitchenette is nothing like a full kitchen, that we only get a fridge and a microwave. Is that fridge any bigger (or does it cool any better) than the one found in non-DVC resorts, such as Wilderness Lodge?

- Are there plates, glasses, cutlery and so on in the kitchenette? Otherwise it would be difficult fixing any meals/drinks there. Or would we have to, say, bring some plastic cutlery from a supermarket?

- Will there a connecting door (locked, obviously) between our studio and an adjacent larger villa?

- I understand that we only get full cleaning service once after 4 days, and trash and towel service after 8 days (or maybe it was the other way around :confused3). Now, this may be a really silly question, but what does one do with the trash accumulated from preparing meals etc. on the other days? Lug it to a big filthy garbage ton somewhere? Or even have to leave it sitting in the room for four days - probably not, right?

- And that leads me directly to the next and final question:
If we decide to behave like the spoiled hotel-dwellers we are and order trash & towel service for additional days - which I have heard is possible - will this be frowned upon?
Will we have to book it in advance or could we just, say, walk up to the customer service desk one evening and book t&t service for the following day?
And also quite importantly, how much will the costs be for an additional day of trash and towel service?
I hope no one will take this the wrong way, we really don't mind making our own beds and keeping our room clean (well, maybe make that "I don't mind...", and DH will be assisting with good advice :rotfl2:). However, I cannot really imagine keeping trash in our room for more than one day in the Floridian heat, or keeping towels semi-wet (for they won't really dry well in humid weather, would they?) for more than a couple of days.

A big Thank You in advance to all you DVC members out there for taking the time to answer one or some of my questions, :flower3:

1. The Fridge is a small under counter size. The ones we've had cooled well. You may need to adjust it when you get there, sometimes housekeeping turns them up when not in use.

2. There are plates, glasses, cutlery but you may need more if you eat at your room alot. The Market Place in the Beach Club has some you could use.

3. Most studios have a connectiing door to a 1 bedroom some are decicated studios with out a connecting door.

4. There are trash rooms on each floor in the middle of the complex if you need to get dump it sooner than housekeeping.

5. Housekeeping services are available for a fee, not sure of the cost we've never had to use extras. I have seen some room cleaned each day so do what you are comfortable with.

Have a great time in October and be sure to use the pool, best on property.

The trash rooms aren't far and you can get a towel package daily for less than a full cleaning, if you don't care if housekeeping makes your beds. If you are missing trash bags, call and ask, housekeeping will drop more off. There are always CRO guest on DVC floors who get full housekeeping with their reservations - your neighbors have no idea how many times housekeeping has been in your room or how you are paying for your reservation.

I would think you would call Mousekeeping whenever you want this service. Or you could schedule and pay for it from the beginning when you check in. This is what is listed on the MS website:

if you leave your towels on the floor - they won't dry. If you hang your towels up each and everytime they are used - they will dry.

florida does have humdity - but that is what the air conditioning is for - florida is HOT.

the hot is generally enough to dry just about anything.

have a great time.

Thank you all very much for your answers, you have been really helpful.

Regarding mousekeeping: I guess we will just order the Towel Package as an addition to the regular schedule a couple of times, and then we will be fine.

Have a great weekend, everybody!

In a studio you will have ceramic coffee mugs and glass drinking glasses. You will have a small number of paper plates and bowls and plastic cutlery. If you plan to do a lot of cooking you may want to supplement the Studio supplies.

Thank you! We don't really intend to cook that much, only to have breakfast in our room most of the days, so I guess that will be enough for us.

I've never run out of plates having only done a night or two in a studio but I was always under the impression you could ask mousekeeping for more plates, bowls and plastic cutlery if you do run out.

There should be four each of small paper bowls and plates, and plastic knives, forks and spoons. The glasses and cups are not very big, and for a long stay, you may want to bring a sharp knife (paring or steak size) in your checked baggage, and your own preferred coffee and some filters (basket shaped). If you get the refillable mugs, (probably a good idea for a long stay) that will give you a larger coffee and drinks container. There's a laundry room near the small pool, if you want to wash and dry your towels in between changes (as well as your own laundry). There should be extra trash bags, and it's easy to dispose of it (and the room is air conditioned, so FLA heat not an issue in the room). There are lots of paper towels, and there's hand dishwashing soap. You might want to bring a larger plastic bowl for cereal, etc.

Here're photos of the kitchenette area:

We'll be at BCV in August (also a studio) and plan to use the pool quite a bit so we will often been bringing wet pool towels back to our room from the pool. Is there a place on the floor to drop them so we don't have to leave them in our room all week or have to bring them back to the pool area?

The pool towel drop off area is at the pool.
We always dry ourselves with the towels and then leave them as we go back to our room. We do not wrap ourselves in them for the trip back up. We don't need to. It works great.
