What is the appeal of Sean Penn?

Just this week I read an article where he said he wants the folks who questioned how the funds were being spent that he raised for the victims of the Haitian earthquake would die of anal cancer. Please! I don't know why anyone had questions, don't know if there was any reason for those questions but it was an awful thing to say and it definitely puts him in a negative light.

This is just beyond sad. :sad2:

Granted, he's a brawler and has anger issues. I would not want him in my life but I think he's a genius actor. His Harvey Milk was incredible and Mystic River-wow! I am Sam, Fast Times @ RH, Dead Man Walking...he's like Meryl Streep, he just becomes the person he's portraying. I can easily seperate politics with talent but in his case I often agree. he doesn't just blow off steam, he puts his money where his mouth is and I find that honorable.

I think he's a brilliant actor and while I almost never agree with his political views, I support his right to have them and applaud his willingness to stand up for them.

Personally, I think he's one of those people whose buttons people like to push. And then when he gets mad, he gets the label that he's being a jerk.

Ohhhh,....he is just disgusting. Doesn't like free speech, but loves communist. I wish he would just go live in a third world country, and spread his special kind of appeal there. Chavez would love him.

I don't think he's all that attractive, but he's a really good actor. He was so good in Mystic River!

I think he is an amazing actor. He plays very unusual and challenging roles. He is not your normal, good looking, leading man type.

As a person, I think he has mellowed with time. When he was young, he was a hot head. Now, he seems much calmer and not so interested in attracting attention.

Who was he in that? I don't remember when he appeared.

He's in the episode "The Voice of Tinker Jones" as one of the kids that helps Tinker make a bell for the school/church. If you watch the scene where they're melting all the toys and buckets and the kids are gathered around Tinker while he's working, you can easily tell which one he is. I think his dad was one of the producers or directors and so he was thrown in as an extra for that episode.

Yes, I'm an LHoP junkie. :thumbsup2

I never understood Sean Penn's appeal. I don't think he is attractive. The movies I've seen him in were so-so (granted I haven't seen many). He's in the news a lot for some unseemly things.

Is it mainly because of his "bad boy" image?

You got me.:confused3
