What is the “disney bug” that i am hearing?

The Disney bug is real folks and it's insidious. You go on your first trip to WDW, and after you come home for some reason you start thinking about going again. After several years of this initial symptom you begin to notice strange things - like some of your kitchen items have Mickey or Minnie patterns, you have many pieces of clothing with Disney characters on them, and don't get me going about the Christmas tree.

Yes Virginia, the Disney bug is real!

Now this bug, I have. A chronic, terminal case too. I am sitting here wearing a Minnie shirt, Mickey bracelet, watch, and three Mickey rings, a BB-8 necklace, beside my phone and purse, both in HM wallpaper pattern, looking at a tree with more characters on it than I can count. Sigh! :rolleyes1

It probably has to do with getting run down and flying in close quarters with others. We just got back Saturday morning and here I am sick with a cold that started yesterday.

We get sick immediately following every trip. Last trip (beginning of Nov) Dh came up sick when we got home. Last trip it was me. I also catch a cold of some kind EVERY time I fly.

We've taken quite a few Disney trips and never gotten sick (knock on wood!). Friends of mine went earlier this year and they all got some sort of norovirus and everyone was throwing up, she said it was pretty awful. But she suspects they caught it while on the plane, because the first child started getting sick the day after they flew. We always drive. Like others said, when you're surrounded by so many people, it's bound to happen.

Pro tip #1: discourage your young children from placing their lips on the handrailings or chewing on any portion thereof. You won’t believe how many times an hour there are children doing this. Parents will tell them, “stop it, that’s disgusting.“ But I tell you, too late.

The wall in the Winnie the Pooh line. No need to say anything more. LOL! I just about die in that queue looking at everyone smearing their hands on that wall.

I got the bug in 1986. It penetrates your brain into thinking that if you go on vacation anywhere else other than WDW you are doing something bad. It attacks your wallet, over and over again. Makes you buy timeshare interest again and again. It also affects the part of the brain that controls planning....you want to plan everything in life either 180 or 60 days in advance depending on what it is.

In all seriousness I am over 30 visits and me and my daughter and my wife have never got sick. I think once my daughter had a sore throat and it lasted 1 day.

NOTE: most hand sanitizers do not kill norovirus (most common cause of GI illnesses). Washing hands with soap and water is best.

Oh hand washing was a biggie.
(Part of the “etc...” LOL)
Regardless - planning our next visit...illness will not keep us away from the magic of Disney World
