What is still “temporarily closed/suspended” due to COVID?

Thinking about what is still “temporary suspended” or “temporarily closed” due to COVID 5 years on…

Things that come to mind for me:

1. Grand Floridian Garden View Tea Room
2. Grand Floridian Bippidi Boppidi Boutique

Anything else people can think of at Disney World?

The Spa at Saratoga Springs never reopened.

Room service gone everywhere except Grand Flo.

The Sea Raycer rentals never came back.

Desert parties at parks other than MK.

"Lunch with an Animal Keeper"-at Sanaa. I LOVED that!

Also, at AKL, the evening talks by the international CMs (I thought those had restarted, but they weren't happening on my last couple trips last year).

Don't watch this if you are prone to tears. I remember at the start of the shutdowns when Disneyland closed and I knew things were going to get Bad. The day we walked back in was tough, and when the parade music started to play there was a lot of quiet crying around me (me too). I had not been a regular at DLP for a long while prior to Covid, but knew it needed to be at the top of my List when I could go again (you never know what you've lost, 'til it's gone...).

I wonder how many of these things they are still publicly "claiming" will come back though.

I imagine some of these things were already on the chopping block and COVID gave them the perfect cover.
Yes, I agree... Tables in Wonderland is one of those... But they have publicly sunset it.

The Spa at Saratoga Springs just currently says it is unavailable, but it is still listed on the website. They're still promoting it, you just can't actually book it. Same with the Garden View Tea Room... There must be some reason they're continuing to promote these things.... I assume that Garden View and BBB at GF have some issues related to the renovations (and I suspect the change in Chapek being CEO has something to do with the starting, pausing, and restarting of GF renovations).

The only spa that’s open at this time is at the GF. The fitness centers are open for the resorts that have them.

I don’t think the other spas are going to reopen.

I just thought of something; Trails End, the best (my opinion) buffet on property, closed never to reopen. Oh, they rebranded it; it’s now a grab and go type set up, with pizza and ice cream; I *think* they still make breakfasts but don’t quote me on that.

From my point of view, they shuttered one of the best restaurants on property. Bad decision there.

A lot of these cuts wern't blamed directly on Covid.

Water activities were huge through the 90s but were clearly in decline. A third party owned the boats toward the end and pulled the plug, after pulling back for years.

We talked about this in another thread, but entertainment was bound to decline after the cast unionized and negotiated for huge pay and benefit increases.

Unique premium experiences have long come and gone.

The “Covid” excuse is the reduction in housekeeping services at moderate/ values, and the transition to bulk shampoo/ condition/ body wash. Mind you that Disney tried this at the values in the late 90s but quickly relented due to backlash.

We were there days before it shut down.

Disney luckily has kept it at deluxe resorts and has kept to two cleanings daily on the cruise ships. Covid did change the housekeeping norms. I’m glad they continue to offer some.

For what they charge at deluxe, I’m not sure they could get away with cutting housekeeping services!

In the late 90s, they briefly tried cutting it at the All-Stars. It was something like every third night you received service - towels and trash if you were staying 1 or 2 more nights, full service if 3+. My mom demanded the towels and sheets get changed daily, and they wanted to charge a fee, so we changed resorts.

We went to the Contemporary but a garden wing. At night you could hear the River County safety spiel radiate across Bay Lake (they didn’t shut it off). I was surprised when they resumed boat service between the Contemporary and Fort Wilderness - I thought for sure that would be a Covid kill.

Resort airline check in. Supposedly the company that did that went out of business.
False facts. The company was sold but is still in business. That was an excuse given by some Disney fan sites

DVC Cabins at Fort is the reason Trials End changed.

I think the GF Orchestra was fired prior to Covid

The Tinkerbell meet and greet at MK Town Square Theatre. I'll never get why they took this one away considering she's one of Disney's most iconic characters & the alternate mascot to Mickey & co.

The response i got when i asked earlier this year was that "she flew back to Neverland" haha, i really hope she makes a comeback to MK eventually! Luckily she's in the FoF parade which kind of made up for it but also i would love a sassy pose picture with my fave fairy!
