What is replacing the disney club card

Hello:

Can someone please tell me what will be replacing the disney club card. I had read somewhere that they will be doing away with the disneyclub card. I would still like to get discounts at the disney store and on resort accommodations. Thanks

Right now it looks like nothing is actually replacing it as far as getting discounts at the stores etc. First USA/Bank One is supposedly launching a new credit card in the spring of 03 that most likely will be a rewards type of credit card. I've not seen much on the details of this card yet, but I'm sure when it is ready to be issued, much more will be known.

I especially asked what they were gonna do for us poor Canucks, since VISA isn't gonna be much help until maybe a year or two! Depending on what happens in the US market.

It seems to be a wait and see situation!

As of now, nothing.
The next best thing is the new VISA card coming out.

Actually a lot of the discounts are also available to AAA members (sorry Canada!) and I just learned that a LOT of discounts are available to annual passholders. And only one person in your party (room?) needs to have an annual pass to get the discounts on rooms, food, etc.

I also am disappointed that DisneyClub is discontinuing. But lately they haven't been able to give me "exclusive" better deals on anything. They don't even give you a discount at the Disney Store anymore!

Gail, I believe the Disney Club discount at the Disney Stores ends at the end of this month. However, to the best of my knowledge, the DVC discount remains at the Disney Stores.

Just a reminder to everyone that tomorrow, December 12 is the LAST day to renew a Disney Club membership.

I renewed -- only for the discount.
I called the DC line and was told all membership benefits (including the DS discount) are good until the club ends, December 31, 2003 .

I just renewed mine today, after I received the book telling of the $50 on board credit for Disney Cruises for 2003. Pays for my renewal plus.

I was in our local Disney Store over Thanksgiving weekend, and they said the Disney Club discount had been discontinued. Also, it is not listed as a benefit in any of the current benefit listings.

I thought that meant the DS discount.

The gal I spoke to when I called the DC line said through next year.
I told her that I had heard it was through only this month.
It was almost like I had pushed a button, because she then very firmly told me that if ANY DS CM told me that I was to call in the DC line then and there, that this was not true.
The way she said it made me wonder if guests had called in to complain.
She again clearly stated it was good until December 31, 2003.
So if this happens, I think I will take her advice.
None of the local CM's have mentioned it stopping to me, and they know me and know I use my card. I would think if it was going to stop at least one would have mentioned it in idle conversation.

I don't know about next year, but I used my DC card about an hour ago at TDS. They haven't said anything about it being discontinued before the end of the club.

At this point I am a little leary of getting a Bank One Credit Card. My SIL used to work there and I have heard a few not so nice things about how they manage their credit card accounts and I know they aren't too great with their employees.

I renewed mine and she told me it was good until Dec 2003. It was also prorated since my current card didn't expire until March. I asked a CM at the DS and she said the discount will be good at the store until the date on your card.

does this mean you can get a pro ration on renewals from disney.....ours expires in september but we would like to have it til the end of Disney Club next december.....was thinking about renewing since we use it a lot for rental cars and have gotten good rates with DC

Yes you could get it for just the remaining months. I think the last day to call was the 12th, not positive about the date.
