What is open at DVC AKL Jambo Villas beside the lodging now without going to DVC AKL Kidoni Villas?

I realize DVC AKL Jambo rooms are available, but what else?

I am a solo wheelchair user.

I've rolled over to AKL Kidoni Villas to look around or dine. I enjoy the stroll and being outdoors, but not so much when it rains.

The AKL van does not have a lift.

I definitely don't like waiting for a theme park push to take me from Jambo to Kidani because the wheelchair spot is sometimes occupied by a guest.

So...

I guess the Lobby and public balconies might be open, but I haven't read anything yea or nay.

Are the animals available outside of DVC AKL Jambo?

What areas are closed?

The WDW website says the following:

Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas – Kidani Village

The following offerings and experiences are currently available at this Disney Resort hotel. Hours of operation will be provided during your stay.
Dining
Shops
  • Johari Treasures
Activities
  • Pools
  • Poolside Activities
  • Movies Under the Stars
  • Fitness Center
  • Community Hall
  • Sports Courts
Transportation
  • Bus transportation is available from this Disney Resort hotel to the Disney theme parks and the Disney Springs area

But, I can't find any info of what is open at DVC AKL Jambo Villas.

The DVC FAQ says,
9) Will grocery order be available?

Members may order groceries but must pick them up at the Resort’s merchandise location.

But does that mean I have to go to Kidani's Resort’s merchandise location?

I haven't heard if Jambo Resort’s merchandise location is open to get food/groceries.

I did find this info:

Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas - Jambo House

516561

Jiko - The Cooking Place - Temporarily Unavailable

516560

Boma - Flavors of Africa - Temporarily Unavailable

516559

The Mara - Temporarily Unavailable

516558

Uzima Springs Pool Bar - Temporarily Unavailable

516557

Victoria Falls Lounge - Temporarily Unavailable

Is Uzima Springs Pool open?

Is the Grocery section open in the gift shop?

I believe that right now, only rooms and pool are available at Jambo. The animals are on the savannah, though. All food options, including grocery section of shop are only at Kidani. (They really should have a quick service open at Jambo, plenty of people would venture from Kidani to go to it too)

I would suggest switching to a different resort, even just to Kidani, to make your life easier. DVC did the bare minimum to open rooms at Jambo.

Hi, Geomom.

Thank you for confirming what I tried to research.

And I agree.

Ray:

At Jambo only the pool and the DVC rooms are open.

The lobby itself is obviously also open.

And the animals are on the savanna [did you know that the 4 AKL savannas (and related structures/operations) together are an actual accredited zoo !?? it operates independent of the humans in the building :-) and it is independent from the AK park, which is also a zoo but its own separate zoo].

However, no services are open, including no stores and no restaurants or bars at Jambo. You would have to go to Kidani.

For groceries, the various grocery delivery services are allowed to deliver to the resorts, so something like Garden Grocer or Dizzy Dolphin are options [and they will ensure that cold things get put properly in the Bell Services fridges].

We've been at Kidani all week and walked over there a couple of nights ago. Ghost town is the only way I know to describe it. Only the top floors have any lights at all and the lobby was eerily quiet. We were the only ones walking around the lobby. It was really strange. It seemed almost unreal.

Honestly, I think they opened the DVC rooms because they got a lot of complaints from owners.

Everything else is run by WDPR and therefore, they decide when to open aspects of their hotel.

It seems like they won’t be opening those things for awhile, especially given the delay of opening for the other deluxe resorts of BWI, BC, and Poly.

So I'm guessing this means if you wanted to refill your refillable mug, you'd have to venture over to Kidani?

Doesn't matter. You had to buy it over there anyway. I'm telling you. There's nothing open over there. Nothing.

Although I would definitely miss Mara, Boma, Jiko, and the Zawadi marketplace at Jambo, if we do end up going in October, I can't help but wonder what the experience will be like?

Maybe a little eerie, but we might actually enjoy "having the place to ourselves" with only DVC rooms occupied on the upper floors.
