What is on the other side of the water from Pop Century?

The plans for Disney's Pop Century Resort called for this "value" resort to have 5,760 rooms spread across 20 buildings. The first phase of 2,880 rooms is finally scheduled to open on December 14 of this year. But further work on the second phase is questionable.

If you look at the pictures, you'll see "footprints" for phase 2 that are similar to the buildings in phase 1.

Should it be renamed Disney's Half Century Resort?

It looks like the other half of Pop Century. I know they are going to have two Main Buildings with Food Courts and 2 check in areas. If you look on the ground it looks like more T shaped layouts.

What surprises me is all the water view rooms they are going to have. I wonder if those will cost more?

it raises the level of this resort a bit in my opinion to have the water there. I think it would be nice walking around the lake. I am still not crazy about the theming, but at least it has some enticements.

I agree I like the "half century resort"

Isn't the bridge called the 'generation gap' or something like that?

Is the new phase going to be 80's 90's and 00's and the bridge brings you over from the 50's 60's and 70's? Wonder what icons they'll be using on the 90's and 00's (yoga mats? cellphones?)

I'm a big fan of most of what Disney has done, however I drove by Pop Century on a recent trip to WDW and it has to be one of the most horrifyingly ugly things I've ever seen. Truly hideous and just plain stupid.
Hopefully as the foliage fills in, most of it will be hidden.
The rooms with water view are supposed to have the same rates as the rest.

We are going to dtay at the eyesore ;) four nights in January. (After four nights at CSR.)
DH wants to stay there because it will be new.
I am too curious not to! :jester:
P1/2C ;) wouldn't look so bad if it wasn't for those stupid words on top of the buildings.
The best service over all we have experienced so far is at AS. And I agree the lake will be a nice little plus.
And it's only four nights. I'm not moving in. :jester:

How many pools is this resort supposed to have? I only see the bowling pin so far but I assume that the star shape is going to be the main pool. And maybe the square on the left will be another pool.

Good luck Luv2Roam. ;) I am curious to hear about this place.

Deb Wills has some good info..

http://wdwig.com/faq_pop.htm

The resort will be built around Hourglass Lake and will feature a bridge called Generation Gap Bridge that joins the Classic Years and the Legendary Years together.

Each of the 2 phases will feature 3 pools and one playground. The Classic Years will have a Bowling Pin Pool near the 1950's buildings, the Hippy Dippy Pool near the 1960's buildings and a Computer pool near the 1980's buildings. The Legendary Years pools will be shaped like a crossword puzzle, a soda bottle, and a highway sign.
