What is meant by the saying: A kept woman?

My question to all of you woman on this thread. Is there such a thing as a kept man? If so how do you get a cush job like that and what are the requirements? Talk about the unfairness of it all. Sometimes you woman don't realize how lucky you are at times.
I was single until I was 29 and I think I would have allowed some elderly woman to spoil me with lavish gifts, maybe a DVC membership that had 500 yearly points. Cars, big screen tv's, season tickets to the Dallas Cowboys. I can dream, can't I?

For older women who "keep" younger men, they call the men "Sugar Babies."

Seriously -- the story I could tell about this stripper who was a surprise at a friend's 40th birthday!!

I left the party early, I was so disgusted by the other women's behavior - and I had to ask the stripper to get out of the hot tub and move his car so I could leave!

Wow! Getting serious here, I am shocked by that as well!!!! I don't mind strippers if taken in the light they were mean to be, but when it gets out of hand... then I am not happy. My DH won't even tell me some of the stories from a bachelor's party he had gone to because I was too good of friends with the bride. It can really get out of hand really quick with those sometimes

I always took it to mean "well kept" or spoiled as in having a "sugar daddy", not that she necessarily stays at home, or doesn't have a job, but just like she's "well maintained", wants for nothing, etc. The kind of woman who lives in luxury due to her DH/DF/DBF etc. -gets expensive jewelry, cars, manicures, etc.

Elaine - don't know if he improved or not! I left at around 10:30 pm, as did my friend who also wouldn't touch! I later learned that the stripper didn't leave until 3:00 am!! The husband of the lady who hired him came home and ended up sitting on the deck and talking to him!

Ahhh.... yes, I did sport some awesome beads, didn't I??!!

Lulu - I was out in the middle of nowhere about 30 miles from home! I was definitely not leaving my car there!

And it was funny that after I left all of the other women expressed their shock at my reaction of disgust and adversion to the stripper! They said that they thought for sure I would have been the one to really cut loose!

I'd never heard the wife definition...if you're married you're not "kept"...in this definition as a luxury item, like an expensive car or pet that can be gotten rid of if necessary. To get rid of a wife takes some effort and legal hoops.

I've never heard it in terms of a wife. To me it means a mistress. Someone kept for the pleasure of the man paying all her expenses.
