I love going to the movies. Enjoy reading.

I have no interest in TV. Years ago I would be a couch potato and watch show after show and enjoyed the programs. Lately I have no interest in any programs. I do watch Home and Garden and some public programing, Discovery and A&E and the Travel Channel. Even these are becoming old hat.

Yesterday we finally had Digital Cable hocked up. I now have 998 channels. A brief scanning through all the programs and I've realize It's the same old junk.

Is it just me? Is it the programs? Or have I just out grown TV?

We just downgraded out cable. All those stations and there was still nothing on. We had to keep the package with the golf channel (DH couldn't live without that). We got rid of all the movie channels that no watched. I'd rather go rent movies over the weekend and watch them at my convenience and be able to pause when necessary. We end up watching game show network and tvland at odd times.

I agree. For the amount of tv stations we get there is nothing on. I do like my Bravo, Travel Channel, HGTV and a select few of the network shows. I am disgusted by the amount of reruns anymore. The amount these actors are getting paid is ridiculous and they are doing less work now than they used to do. Then there is the reality shows. I am a sucker for Survivor this year and I adore the Amazing Race but there seems to be a new one popping up every week now.

I think it's all three reasons that you mentioned.

I am the same way! Most of the shows on tv, including cable, are trash. I do enjoy HGTV, Discovery, and some of the other channels you mentioned, and I think you're right, after a while even they just get "old". I enjoy a good movie, but what the networks are producing are junk food and poison for the brain. Most shows are designed to lower morals and standards. I don't watch soap operas, not even the nighttime dramas. I honestly can't get into those shows anymore, even though years ago I used to watch shows such as LA Law, Hill Street Blues, Dallas, etc.

Many people are realizing they have better things to do with their time than watch the garbage on tv.

I was the same way. I had so many shows I just couldn't stand to miss. Now it doesn't seem to matter. If I catch a show, I catch it. If I don't, it's no longer the end of the world :D

We have a Tivo, so I can cherry-pick the good stuff from the on-screen program guide and have it waiting for me when I'm ready to watch it. Even when there's 150 channels of junk on, there's always something interesting waiting for me on my Tivo.

another tivo user here, and i agree. with it, i've actually found a lot of interesting stuff. :)

Most of today's TV shows are just plain junk !
However, I love to watch TV Land, and Nick at Nite

I adore watching "Leave it to Beaver" I have a "retro crush"
on Tony Dow. :bounce: :D :Pinkbounc
