What is it about the Middle of April??

I just discovered that DD is out of school on April 14 and 17. So, I start thinking about a quick trip to WDW. But, It turns out that is right in the middle of Peak season and would use 87 DVC points or cost us a ton of money for the room since there are no discounts for those dates (except AAA and I haven't been able to get Disney's website to work to see how much the rooms normally are! AGHHHHHHH!).

Anyway, my question is, what is it about the Middle of April? Why is it such a busy time?

TIA

Easter is April 16, so it is peak season. I am guessing that having the Friday before and the Monday after is her spring break.

Of Course, I knew Easter was in there somewhere!

DD Spring Break is the third week in March, these dates are on the calender as weather days (since we never get any snow!).

Are alot of the other schools out during that week in April too?

Here in New England, pretty much every school (elementary, middle, high -- not to mention colleges!) have a week off mid-April. Most schools are off April 17 to 21 this year, but it varies just enough to make almost the entire middle part of the month the full spring break rush.

That is our school vacation week. There will be heavy crowds that week.

My kids are off the week before Easter. We will be there April 7 - 14 - I expect it will be very busy...but we have done the April thing before and as long as you plan it's really not so bad.

Wow, so do you think that my daughter's spring break week will be less busy than the middle of April? Her Spring Break is March 20-24.

I think I will start a new thread about when everyone's spring break is (seems like I saw one like that not to long ago!)

I think both will be equally as bad.

Here in our part of Maryland....school is only out the Thur. & Friday before Easter, & the Monday after.

We never go to Disney then because of the crowds..(see my signature :) ).

I think you'll be better off in March, not much better but better, because Easter falls on April 16 this year and it will be VERY crowded that week.

I grew up in MA and I agree with elementary, middle, and high, but I graduated from UMass and never had that week off. Also we live in NH and our kids don't have that week off, they have the following week.
