What is included with CS children's meals & adult desserts?

I have looked through the restaurant menus posted online, but for counter service options I can't figure out what exactly is included, especially for children's menu options. For example, we will be eating at the Sunshine Seasons in the Land, and the children's menu option I have chosen for my kids states chicken leg and mashed potatoes. But I gather from what I've read here that they cannot choose a regular dessert? What will the dessert be, and are there any additional sides? I keep hearing something about carrots and grapes. Are carrots and additional sides and grapes the dessert, or are those both side items and then they get an additional dessert. Help! I can't figure it out! What about the adults. Can the adults choose any dessert they want or are there limitations here too?

My experience is from back in Dec, but IIRC for the kids desserts there was a choice of cookies. Adults had more dessert choices, but there were things in the case that weren't included, too. The lady at the counter was helpful about answering questions. She has to hand you the dessert item, so you won't have to worry about getting ready to pay and finding out it's not included.

We found the widest assortment or dessert choices were at our resort CS. My nephew loved the sliced apples with caramel dip(w/PB&J and milk). I think he only ate the caramel once, but I was happy to see him select fruit. He also had apples slices as an appetizer at a TS meal.

Dessert choices at CBR:
Bakery item (cookies, cake, huge cup cakes, etc.)
Ice Cream from the reach in freezer, soft serve at dinner
Yogurt
Whole fruit
Pudding? (got this at Peco Bill's in MK)

Overall I wasn't too impressed with the park CS options, resort was better. Had a good meal at Main St, but it was late and I had not eaten in 10hrs!
Main St Bakery in MK had a great assortment as well.
