Does anyone know what the current situation is with these 2? I know the SCAL website says that the new version doesn't support Cricut-- does that mean that there is no way to use it with Cricut?

I have SCAL 2 and an Expression v 2.3. I am afraid to do anything as far as updating or syncing either one of them for fear they will stop talking to each other! Do I need to be worried?

ETA: And if I ever need to switch SCAL to a different computer or my laptop crashes will I then be out of luck?

If you upgrade your cricut it will no longer work with SCAL. And yes, if you get a new bug it will no longer work with SCAL.
Sucks doesn't it?!?!

ETA: I'm not sure about a computer upgrade though.

Continue to use your Cricut and SCAL2, there shouldn't be a problem. By not supporting it anymore means they are selling SCAL2, but they will still provide support until Dec 31st for any issues (learning how to use the software) and they will always be there to help re-install on the technical end.

My only concern is the new Cricut Craft Room may want you to update your Cricut's firmware.... but I don't plan on using the CCR, so I don't ever need to update my firmware on the Cricut.

A computer upgrade should not be a problem.

Keep a copy of the registration codes.

and contact Craft Edge customer support if you need help to get it set up.

Thanks! The needing to reinstall it in the future was my biggest worry. DH copied it onto a disk last night and I have the code.

It looks like there has been an upgrade since I last checked so I probably need to get that now. I am guessing it won't be available after the end of the year.
