Is there a cheerleading convention or something going on? Lots of places are booked solid and DVC does not have anything avail this week but all the other weeks surrounding are avail. Anyone have a clue so i know what im dealing with and if the crowds are going to large?

I would love to know as well, though we will only be there the 12 & 13th.

The Anaheim Convention Center has The American Showcase National Cheer & Dance Competition in town from 4/18 through 4/20. I will be down there too and hope that it won't be too crowded!

Yes, it is the cheerleading convention or whatever it is called. We too are going to be there during that time. I am not certain of the dates. I think 18-21. Someone else had post awhile back that they thought only the weekend would be super busy since the competitions were during the week. :confused3

aww man i had a feeling it was cheerleaders.. anytime the rooms are booked like that it's them... and what i have noticed is that as we get closer more rooms at Disneyland are opening up. I'm hoping to be able to cancel my cash ressie and use my points if they open up. I've been calling every other day lol. Thanks so much. Makes sense now why the 18th no matter what is not avail at the Disneyland hotel.

I saw the other thread (poster) advising all of us to stay away during this time.

I'm already booked & plans made. Does anybody else have an opinion on how it will be that Sat, Sun & or Monday (i think april 19-21) AT THE PARKS.

Are cheerleaders late sleepers? Will they be "stuck" at the Convention Center?

Will Disney be selling earplugs cheap??

Thanks.

On the plus side they are only expecting 13000 compared to last weeks cheer tournament of 30000. The first year we went we had the cheer group and they came mostly at night and didn't seem to be there much during the day.

I agree. They are there to compete, after all. I have been during a cheer convention, and managed to avoid them by following Hydro's general rules, which I know you adhere to (get there prior to opening gather FP's like crazy, take a break mid-day and head back at night ready to use them). If you see a herd of them :cheer2::cheer2: just walk the other way. . . :rolleyes1

Thanks guys. :thumbsup2

As long as i can employ "the strategy" & am in DLR....all is well in the world. It'll just be DS 9 (Padewan Alec) & i, so we can move quickly & effieciently. :hippie:

Cheerleaders don't scare me....:snooty: ....I've been at WDW during the summer with unchaperoned Brazilian youth groups everywhere.....now THATS scary. :scared1:

:rotfl:

You also have a couple hundred thousand people flying in for the Long Beach Grand Prix that weekend as well and my fiancee and I will be flying in for the race that weekend (April 18th through the 20th).

A wild guess of mine is that some of the people overseas who are flying in for the race will go to Disneyland at some point during their stay with Disney just being a few miles away.

My fiancee and I are spending the whole week out there as Arcadia, Ca is my hometown that I grew up in for 22 years and My fiancee and I will be at Disneyland on Sunday April 13th during our April 12the through 20th stay while we are staying in the Pasadena area.

It will be the first time that my fiancee has been to Disneyland while I have been there about 50 times in my life. My last regular visit was in 1992, But I had a private tour of Disneyland California Adventure in 2000 before it opened. Just didnt have the time to work a day at Disney in on that vacation.

I was at Disneyland last year during this same cheer and dance competition and it was the most crowded I've ever seen...the lines were neverending! I recommend staying away from April 18-20, but if you MUST go during that weekend, I strongly suggest going to Disneyland on Friday and DCA on Saturday. Disneyland will be MUCH more crowded on Saturday.

Are you sure you're talking about the same competition?
As has already been stated; USA Nationals (which already took place in March) is a MUCH larger competition than the one coming up in April.

We went to the parks during the weekend of the March competitions. Yes, it was crowded, but certainly not unbearably so.

I hope all you April travelers have a great time!

Yes, I am sure it is the same event. I was told that the way this competition is structured leaves the teams with lots of free time, thus crowds at Disneyland.

From what I have seen, the March competition had 30,000 participants, the Apil competition expects 13,000.

Do you have a link for that information? I would be interested in seeing it.

I am planning a trip soon and I have heard that the April competition is expected to be just as crowded, if not more crowded than one in March.

Thanks in advance!
