What is everyone doing about hoping for free dining in Sept? I talked to a WDW reservationist, after I checked on prices for this upcoming Sept. she asked if I would like to book? I said I was just checking prices and hoping for free dining. She said well this would assure you your dates and place. I said, well it's a catch 22. You guys said that if reservations looked light that there was a good chance of the free dining coming out. She said yeah your right. I asked what people were doing. She said some booking and some waiting about half and half. What do you all think? What are most of you doing?

the lady said nothing is definite. There has to be availability to do it. But in a manner of speaking it can be changed if there is availability.

We are waiting to book our Sept vacation to see if they will offer the free dining. However, we also want to know what the room discount will be if we get an AP instead. That might be better than the dining...

We are waiting (trying to be strong and not book now!!). I have to believe that there is truth to the idea that Disney will not feel compelled to offer free dining if the resorts are already full. Just makes sense to me. Meanwhile we are crossing fingers and hoping hard!! :) It would be our first trip with the DDP and we really want to try it out.

I booked a room only reservation at Pop from Sept 7th - Sept 16th.
I'll upgrade and add free dining on (and 1 day tickets for both of us) if it is offered.
If not we may or may not go... we'll have to see if the budget can afford it or not.

we're not counting on it. We are GOING this year in Sept. regardless of discounts and the dining plan. I keep hearing different things about changing/adding the free dining to an existing reservation so we just booked our package at the Beach Club and have our fingers crossed.

We'll see! There are only so many options for a family our size and we didn't want to lose out on the kind of room we need.

We're going regardless of whether free dining is offered, so we booked it. I am still hoping for it, though, because if it isn't offered, DH will insist on eating most of our meals off property. That was the deal we made when he agreed to the trip, and I'll have to (grudgingly) honor it.

FYI - When we were there at the end of Nov /early Dec., we booked at POP for Aug 7th-14th and at that time, they were offering free dining if you booked your next rip before check out - which we did. I think the time frame was Aug 6 - Sept 29th but I could be wrong. So anyway, I would think they MAY be offering it again!

I'm not sure I can go in Sept yet, so I'm just hoping that all of these people booking in hopes of free dining aren't filling the resorts enough to keep WDW from offering the free dining..... :)

I am hoping to go for free dining. I will not book now. If everyone books rooms there will be no free dining. They will not need it. I thought if you wanted free dining you had to book everything together so booking a room now wouldn't do anything for you anyways.

I am waiting as well to book our rooms. We need 2 rooms, so free dining is the cheapest way for us. Without the free dining, we will wait until next year.

I am afraid though, if so many rooms are booked (with hopes for free dining), Disney may not offer free dining because they already have rooms booked.

We did the exact same thing. Same dates and everything....the only different is that we are going no matter what.

We are booked September 23-October 4th and hoping for the free dining. We are going on this trip no matter what as we go every year but this would be a great perk. We had free dining 2 years ago and it was great. You can add it to your existing package with no problem if they offer the free dining as that is what we did the last time as well. :)

My opinion is if you will go even without free dining to book now if not wait. I figure the more rooms that are filled the less free dining rooms will be available. Even if you do book now it does not guarantee you free dining if it comes out you still have to call and change the reservation to free dining. I figure I will leave my deposit in my savings to collect the interest for myself instead of letting Disney collect it for themselves.

I figure, if they only have 10 rooms available for free dining at POP and 10 people call in first thing on the morning they offer free dining even if someone already has a reservation at that resort but they call later they might have to change resorts or be SOL if it is all sold out. This is just an exaggeration because I am sure if they offer it they will have more than 10 rooms available but then again if people keep making regular reservations hoping to get the free dining added that may be a possibility.
