What is DVC?

Can someone please explain to me exactly what the Disney Vacation Club is? What are the benefits? How much does it cost? Is it worth it? How do we become members?

My dh & I are huge Disney fans and would love some info on this.

DVC is the Disney Timeshare, although it's different, you buy points, not a set week in a set building. You can use your points for anything from a studio (nice hotel room with mini kitchen) to a 2 bedroom villa to a Disney cruise to stays at other hotels in US and abroad.
