Hi all,

I was wondering what the very end of September/early October would be like for visiting Disneyland? Would love any advice from you experts! :). I initially planned to go early January but we now plan to go to Las Vegas as well and I think the weather in Las Vegas will be better in September/October (want to enjoy the hotel pools :)).

we went this past september 29th and 30th (a monday and a tuesday). it was definitely busier than i expected. not quite busy enough to really need RideMax or anything, but busy enough to need to use FP's.

as far as weather goes, it was hot and humid (it rained on us briefly while we waited for rope drop on one of the days). pretty sticky weather-wise, for SoCal anyway.

hope that helps!

Oh okay, I'm not too sure if I could do hot humid and sticky weather actually. I wonder if January will be better???

You'd be dealing with UEA (Utah school break) and Gay Days crowds. I'd avoid that time personally.

Oh wow - thanks for that. Coming from New Zealand, I would have no idea of these holidays/events that increase crowd levels. It's so nice of you to let me know! Big thanks. :)

That's one of the best times of the year to visit. Weather is hit or miss in So. Cal. I went this January, mid-month and they were having a heatwave. It was 84 degrees! So. Cal. schools are back in session by the 2nd wk of September. Mid-week it should be great. Also it will be a bit cooler (?) in Vegas. Have fun!

We'll be visiting Disneyland from 21st-28th September. Can anyone tell me what crowd levels will be like then?
September 21-24 should be very quiet, but crowds will pick up the 25th-27th since it's the weekend (almost always busy) and because it's the first weekend of Disney's HalloweenTime, which is supposed to start on September 25.

Thats when about 5,000 students converge on Anaheim for the students escape to Anaheim. Have fun.

We were there in Sept/Oct last year. In the few days leading up to the Gay Days weekend it was pretty quiet, at least by what I expected. The following week it was busy, but we weren't too bothered by it. I was in DL 20 some years ago after Splash Mountain opened in the middle of summer, that's what I call busy!!!

It's also the Aust/NZ spring school holiday period, everywhere there were Aussies/Kiwis. A few people even asked me why. I know of a lot of families heading over in that period this year. OK, it may not add 20,000 to the crowds, but an educated guess would be 5,000 people.

I had two CMs tell me that the middle of last September, weekdays, were the quietest they had seen in awhile. That seems to be a good time since a lot of people are done with summer trips, just back in school, or are waiting to go in October...

Yikes! When does this happen? We thought we might do our cruise first and then visit Disneyland around 5-10 October.

I think our friendly CM is referring to the UEA (Utah Escape to Anaheim). That is occurring Oct 1-4 this year. However, during the first 2 weeks of October you will also experience many bordering states having school "Fall Breaks". Arizona schools fluctuate between the first 2 weeks. And I think Idaho, Nevada and Washington schools also have breaks during that time. It doesn't make it unbearably crowded, but you won't have empty parks.

I'm glad the OP asked this. :flower3: My family's planning a trip for October, and we're debating either the 5 - 10 or the 12 - 17. Does anyone know which might be less crowded?
