Hi - I'm sorry, but I'm new to DVC... what is community hall? I'm imagining a big rec room with tables and chairs... is that close?

Are there structured activities there?

Which DVC resorts have these?

Are they tied to DVC? Or just Disney resorts in general?

Finally, is there a Community Hall at VGC?

Sorry for all the questions!!

OKW, BWV, AKV, BLT, SSR all have community halls at WDW. Can't tell you about HHI, VB or VGC. These are all DVC and not just WDW. I know there is none at BCV or VWL.

You can rent videos, play games, sometimes they have art projects that you can participate in (usually a small fee for those). But it's not a baby sitting service. If your kids are there, you'll need to be there as well.

Hilton Head has a community hall.

Hilton Head has another area called Big Murgie's Den that has a pool table. I think some of the WDW resorts also have areas with pool tables and comfortable spaces. Although BCV and VWL doesn't have community halls...there are some common spaces that are comfortable.

Never be sorry for questions, it's how we all learn our way around.

Community Hall reminds me of a small version of kids camp.

HHI does not have designated Community Hall but they have scheduled activies located at different locations throughout the resort.

VB does have a community hall. It isn't as well equipped as BWV. Mostly it is used for kids art projects. DVD's are not available in the VB community hall. They are in the resort's gift shop however.

In Deb's response above she said you can rent DVD's. If you are a DVC member staying on points the DVD's are free.

Sammie: What is that large activity room called that is upstairs next to the gift shop and snack bar at Hilton Head?

We took a resort day at SSR last summer and made good use of the Community Hall. We borrowed the DVDs (free to members), checked out a life vest for our youngest which we were able to keep for the week, played foosball, colored, and painted pottery (which was so fun!). There was a fee to do the pottery, but it was less than what I've paid in the paint-your-own studios at home. Other crafts they had included painting t-shirts and painting tote bags. They also had board games you could use. We enjoyed it very much.

I have had some great times at the community hall. it is what makes the vacation club a home away from home.
we have spent time planning the next day or afternoon there. it is also a great way to be with family and meet new friends. also just sometimes the rooms (anysize just get a little small)

My kids enjoy CH. We even used the CH when we exchange to a Marriot and they enjoyed it as well. Last summer at SSR they made pottery piggy banks, buttons ($1 each but the CM let them make 4 for $1) and we borrowed games (one we tried out they are getting for Christmas). When it would rain while at the pool, we would head to CH.

If your not dvc, nor renting points but staying at the resort, > are you allowed in the community center, or allowed to participate [even for a fee?]
Or, even the fitness club? We are staying kidani in march and do not want
to be asked to leave, or go somewhere we should not.

thanks, mky:cutie:

You can use the community hall even if you are not members. We did when we stayed at OKW before we became members. You have to pay for movie rentals, but we played games there and checked out tennis eqiupment and basketballs.
