What is cheapest and closest to the DL wihtout being in a dump or scary? Going in 2nd weekend of Dec.

When you say "dump" ;) do you mean that plain and clean is ok? Cause there's a few of those nearby. Right at the crosswalk, Desert Inn sometimes has pretty good rates.

Best deal is HoJo's Entertainment book rates, but those are not currently listed for the second week in December. You could still get the 15% off DISboards rate off the best available rate there, by calling in-house reservations.

Here's a map with nearby hotels listed as links. You can click on each one to get info, it's kind of handy. http://www.geocities.com/ashpsyche/DisneylandLinkMap.html

I have always found priceline to be the cheapest. We are going this weekend and are staying at the Hyatt for $44

We have been to many hotels across the street. i did not like Dessert Inn (thought that WAS a dump). We like HoJo's and the Carousel. :) HoJos is a bit longer of a walk but not by much.

Anaheim Plaza is a really good price, certainly doesn't seem its a dump but we haven't stayed there.

We liked Carousel and it is really closer. We are also considering Camelot.

Anaheim Plaza is a safe bet...it's nothing fancy, but in my experience it's always been clean & comfortable. As of last time I checked, a room with 2 queen sized beds and a private balcony or small yard was $69 a night. It IS an older property, but the grounds are nicely kept & there's a HUGE swimming pool and a hot tub, too.

I have not utilized websites such as price line as of yet, for I am a bit leery of which location it will place me in. In addition, I do not want to have to pay parking fees, if the only thing to which I am parking is myself. I am only interested in paying for what is necessary, and nothing more. Perhaps, one day, I will try price line, et al. out, maybe not. I really would need to find out more about the workings of these search engines, before deciding positively one way or the other.
