What is Buena Vista Palace?

A conference my dh was interested in says it is onsite at WDW (they said Disneyland, but they also said Orlando. Got a good chuckle over that), but it says Buena Vista Palace, and I have never heard of such a thing. Downtown Disney? Really, I just can't figure out what they are talking about.

It used to be the Wyndham Palace in DTD. A company bought the Wyndham chain, kept the better properties then sold the lower end properties and name to Cendant.

Buena Vista Palace was a previous incarnation of the Grosvenor Hotel - just across the street from DTD. We stayed there waaay back in 1983 when it was fairly new, not long after Epcot opened. At the time, it was the tallest building in central Florida with a great view from the bar at the top. Back then, it was a very nice hotel. It's had several owners and problems since then, and I guess it's pretty much run downhill.

I don't know if it is/was the only Buena Vista Palace, but it's what the Grosvenor used to be called.

As Lewisc said, this is the former Wyndham Palace Resort, right across the street from Downtown Disney Marketplace.

Does anyone know if the new owners are going to "fix" all the problems they've been having?

You guys are right. Where we stayed was the Buena Vista Palace back in 1983 - it had just opened. (I checked the photo.) It's now returned to its original name. And it WAS a nice hotel back then. We were there for a conference, and it was our last stay in a non-Disney hotel.

Hmmm. So that's weird that the little blurb I read would have so many mistakes. Well, if dh does decide he wants to go, he'll have to find more reliable info. LOL
