What is a good price for this rental car scenario?

18 days straddling the end of October and the beginning of November. I want a full size and it must have unlimited miles because we're driving from Michigan. It will be an off airport rental, but there are plenty of companies with locations near me.

The cheapest price I can find right now is through Budget, but I've never rented a car for pleasure before, only for car repairs, so I have no idea what to strive for with pricing.

I have a few discount codes that I have used to see prices, but I'm trying to figure out if I'm getting a good rate and should go with it or if I should wait and keep looking. I would love to pay under $500. Is that possible? The price I'm getting now is about $620.

book something now you can cancel without penalty just to have a car 'in hand' & keep checking

have you tried pricing out a rental down to MCO, returning it and then taking out another rental for return trip? Especially if staying onsite you could possibly not require the car for the entire duration of your visit.

You might consider trying a 21 day rental. rentals by the week tend to be cheaper What you have now is 2 weeks (14 days) with 4 extra days. Those extra days may run a lot. If you can just pick the car up early and have it at your house or return it a few days later then you can try three weeks. (Generally that's over five days) You may find that cheaper.

I am trying to do the same time frame from Buffalo (Oct. 20-Nov.5) and can't find anything reasonable yet. In the past two trips (last December and this May) I got great deals about 6 weeks -2 months out, so I think I will just wait until the dates get closer.
