What is 1 unpopular opinion on Travel you have?

People with young kids feeling they don't need to pay for EBCI or seats or playing dumb about Basic Economy (even though it gives terms and conditions in a few words). Then whining that they have no seats and how dare airline not give them seats. Then people saying oh people will move for you - even those who paid for seats

I can't understand why people travel all the way to Hawaii and then stay at Aulani or some other resort where they don't actually experience the real terrain and culture.

Another one of my "unpopular" opinions is that Aulani is in an absolutely sucky location on Oahu. And confining oneself to the compound of some AI in the Caribbean? Why, just why?

It's because of the 'community' they are in. Ko Olina has the rep but we found the man-made lagoons far inferior to the beach we had.

We stayed in Makaha in a residential part. No the housing areas weren't pretty (they were fairly run down) when driving right in the area but seeing the landscape sure was beautiful. A draw back was there wasn't too many food options right near it but we didn't mind at all driving to other places.

I could see where families like Aulani so I'm not knocking that but a day visit specifically there was perfectly fine for me.

Give me a Waikiki Beach-view room on the 20th floor of a hotel right smack on Kalakaua Avenue please. We wouldn't stay any other place.

I actually LIKE carrying food into the parks. We carry a few small things with us & stash a cooler in a locker so we can stop to replenish now & then. The cost savings is nice, but for us it became more about convenience & the ability to bring what we WANT to eat.

After a few days of nothing but park food at Universal/Sea World, the entire family felt like crap.

A lot of places in Paris smelled like that; do you think they even notice? On a more positive (yet probably unpopular) note, everyone we encountered there was very congenial and the service was fine!

To be honest, most of the subway stations I've been to in the US smelled of piss. Definitely New York, Boston and Philadelphia. I think it's par for the course.

While we like Disneyland, the rest of the area is a dump. The area near rental car pickup at LAX looks like a 3rd world nation. Hollywood is hyped to be the great looking place, the walk of fame, etc, but in reality it was full of trash with 31 folks dressed as Elmo harassing you while trying to take a photo of a star you wanted to see-if you weren't knocked over by pedestrian traffic first. Our day trip to San Diego was impressive though.

The entire area around Pittsburgh lives up to it's name, the pits. Visited twice and was completely unimpressed both times. We do have a son now as where we were staying was scary so we didn't venture out at night-other to get Tums and anti nausea meds for my wife.

Try flying into NYC from the orient you think you are in a third world airport. We went hiking this past winter and skiing near the Pa WV border and spent a few days at the Drury in Pittsburgh. The Maple Leafs were playing the Pens. We walked across 5 of the bridges and all over the city and had a very nice time. Found the people a bit clannish and unsophisticated but other than that enjoyed our time there.

There are a lot of things to both love & hate about California. Sometimes, it’s the same things.

Definitely. Paris doesn't have a monopoly on foul-smelling subway stations. Philly is especially bad.

This is us exactly!! We loved it and felt so glad we hadn’t taken advice that the only way to do Hawaii was in a condo on Maui.
