What in the World (WDW) is Atmosphere?

One thing really stumps me and I can't seem to get an answer to it. The EPCOT events schedule lists "Atmosphere" as the venue for a lot of outdoor events. Where or what is Atmosphere (or are all those events projected in the sky)???

They're using it as a description of the type of performance, I think, rather than the venue. If it's not a character experience, concert, or fireworks, they call it "atmosphere". Just something to listen to or watch as you walk by, maybe?
