What in the world happened to my icons?

Okay...my nephew was on my computer when I left my house. Now when I get back, my computer is all screwed up. The icons on my desktop are really small. When I changed the settings on my Apperance thing to "larger icons" they became huge.

Not to mention the really tiny font and webpages I'm seeing! Everything is out of whack! What do I do to fix it? I've already tried to change the "text size" on my View menu and the Large" is TOO big! I'm on medium and I'm positive I've always been on Medium.

I consider myself a computer nerd...so why can't I figure out what he did?!??

HELP!

He probably changed the display settings.

If you can't get it straightened out the way you like it, and you're using Windows XP, you should be able to do a system restore, and have them go back the way they were.

Specifically the Resolution Settings. If you right click and go to "Properties" you should find it in one of those tabs no matter what Windows OS you are using. Thank goodness my husband and I dont' share a computer because he has his set so you'd have to have a magnifying glass to read (mostly for his games though)

Thanks Guys...but none of that helped. After looking at the sites last visited on my interent, I figured it wasn't my nephew it was my BROTHER! The one who is now no longer in my will! Oh am I going to have it out with him when I see him today!

I changed my resolution from 1024x?? to 800x600 and it made everything go from really tiny to REALLY HUGE. It's like there is no medium.

I know how to change the text size of my webpages, but it's the rest of it that is causing the problem. You know the toolbar with the back button, forward button, etc...yeah well that is like 1/8 of an inch! All my "toolbars" up there are that big. They are way too small! I've changed my icons to be "text to the side" to "text underneath" and it changes the size of them from really tiny to really HUGE also! It's like there is no medium.

All the icons on my desktop are also very small! Whatever he did, he knew what he was doing! I'm so mad at him!

Any other suggestions? I think it's a little more complicated than just two clicks of the mouse!

It is ME, but then about a year ago, I installed Office XP if that helps any. I needed it to have Word, PowerPoint, etc. on my computer.

I can change the size of my desktop icons, but they go from like 20 to like 44 before they return to normal again.

Any ideas about the toolbars up top of my webpages?

:worried: Thanks Dan...I'll try some more of those.

I just have this feeling I'm going to be computer shopping today!;)

You can try:

Right click on the desktop, choose properties, choose settings, advanced and on the general tab, change the dpi setting from 120dpi or custom to 96dpi (normal)

Or try the Themes tab in the same place and pick a default theme

If you want to send me a screen shot that might help. Set the screen to where you can see the problem and hit the prt scr button. Open Word or Notepad and choose Paste. Save that and e-mail it to me.

Good luck!

LOL!!! We can fix this... no need to buy a new computer. (Unless, of course, you really want to find a reason to buy a new computer!)

I live near you... for an offering of chocolate, I could be persuaded to help if you get to the very, very end of your rope. :teeth:
