What if you had to change your name?

Something Prettybluebunny posted on another thread got me thinking about this...

But being banned I am, I feel free lol like VMK had me taken into a cult ( scary ) but i still miss it!!

What if instead of a ban, VMK said the penalty was a name change? You lose all your friends but keep your stuff. Aong with that VMK says that a condition for this is that you also agree to not post on any board, PM or email your new name. Honor system here, you are not allowed to email, PM or forum post your new name, only allowed to try to find people with what they give you in VMK.

Would you quit VMK?
Is that answer different than if you got the current 10 year ban?

Bottom line:Is it all about the stuff and your current identity in VMK? or is it about the people.

For me it is about the people, they could keep the stuff, the rooms... All of it!!!

If I could not play with my friends, I might play alone, but definitely not so often.

I have had a name change.
No reason was given, Just got a pop up saying my name was rejected when I signed in. They made me change it befiore I could continue. My Dis name and VMK name used to match, so I was very dissapointed when it happened.

Since I edit out my friends list once a month and delete anyone who hasn't played for a long time or don't remember who they are, loosing the list would not matter. I know who my friends are! and would just find them again and re-friend them.

Now If I lost all my stuff. I would really cry and cry and cry. It would be very hard to get all the stuff I have now If I started from scratch. I would have to send off several angry letters the black hole and beyond if I got baned. But since I am a good girl that should never happen.

I would feel awful if I lost my friend's list! I can deal with a name change (I never really did like FrontierSuzy *though grew into it over the last year lol*)

I go into vmk and immediately look to see who is on. I would hate not seeing any of my "friends" on!

I would feel the worse though, if my friends thought I deleted them from my list! It would tear me to pieces because some of the people on my list (ok, most of the people lol) I would never even think about deleting them from my list. And through all that, they would not see "me" (as in my FrontierSuzy character) ever again! Especially since *in your hypothetical thought provoker* we couldn't tell anyone about our name change, they wouldn't know the matter at hands! It would honestly rip me up to think about how my friends thought I uped and deleted them with no explaination or anything!

If vmk wants to really get cruel and unusual, I'd say go for this idea!!! lol.

I would find a way to get everyone back on my list one way or another in the game. No problem, I would be able to change names totally. In fact i play more on my clones now too, specifcally so I don't have to see some of the people I no longer want to have anything to do with.

My friends will be my friends no matter what name I am playing under and with. I know i could find them in the game again and add them to my list, even if I could not tell them who I was. It does not matter to me if they know it was me or not, I know it's them!!

You would be surprised how fast your friend list would build again with the same friends.
One of my bans I played on a different character and not only in about 2 days did I have pretty much all my old friends on my new list I also was starting a new room of rare.
It can be done, so for sure I'd rather take a name change then a indefinate ban.

Anyway, my talking to friends to playing games ratio is about 10:1, so I would be defiantly be a little lost without my friends list .

The only reason I ever came on was to see my friends on vmk, if it wasnt for them i would have stoped playing a long time ago. If you go on vmk it'ss just a game that people get bored of. But when you have friends that you respect and are fun to be around and relate to you its different. The game becomes more than just a game, it becomes some thing where you feel the need to come see the friends you have and see how they are. That's rare to find something that makes you so happy! And excited, and have the need to see them 24/7. And talk for hours and hours until your hands fall off.

But when you have friends that you respect and are fun to be around and relate to you its different. Well, I wouldn't stand for it. For starters, they cannot say if I can post on any forums or not unless they own them. As they don't own the DIS, I wouldn't care. I would hate to lose the name cteddiesgirl. That's my name pretty much everywhere on the net. And no one else has it that I can find.

I would, however, be able to find most of the people that are on my friends list. Besides that, I already have several other characters that have their names posted here.

So I would continue to post here and on the fan site. If I didn't, then I prolly wouldn't be trading as much as I do now.
And if they banned me for 10 years, so be it. I lived without it before, I can do so again. Most of the people on my friends list are people on here anyways.
