Ok, I've made a number of different ones from this place and that and I'm still not sure which we are going to go with. None of them have my credit card info. What happens if I forget to cancel one of my ressies? Thanks!
I'm just curious, how? They only have an email address, no credit card or anything. I'm just worried that I'll miss one that I made. I wouldn't do it on purpose.
I believe Safetymom was replying to jboehm who asked what the ramifications were if they didn't cancel at Alamo and National when they DID have your credit card info.
If they have your credit card info they will infact charge a no show fee. It states this right on their website. I believe it's $50.
Thanks beattyfamily. That is who I was replying to. Car rental agencies base their pricing on supply and demand. If they notice a lot of no shows they are likely not to lower rates. If they have brought in a lot of cars to meet a demand and the renters don't show up they have an expense they wouldn't have had. It all affects the bottom line.
I think it is a courtesy to cancel early enough that someone else could use that reservation.
I believe what drives up car prices is supply & demand. If alot of people had 3 reservations & didn't cancel them it would show in their system as alot of rentals and therefore may drive the price higher.???
Wouldn't hurt to cancel the ones you know you won't use, and maybe it would help keep the cost down for the next family.
Maybe that is not the way it works, but that was the impression I was under.
Yes, of course, if you've provided a credit card number, they will charge you for a no show. I know that Alamo does not require a credit card in order to make a reservation. Also Avis and Dollar do not require a credit card.
Thanks for clearing that up. I have every intention on canceling the ones that I'm not going to use. I was just worried if I accidentaly missed one. That's all. So please don't accuse me of driving up the prices. Thanks.

If you are referring to my post, I was not saying that to accuse....
I certainly did not mean to say that because you may have a few reservations you are the reason for higher costs...
I was just commenting that, that if multiple reservations (in general) were on hold that *could* add to the cost.
just like airlines...If someone put a bunch of seats from Delta on hold the next person that went to purchase seats would have a higher cost
