"What I did on my Summer Vacation" By: Heather K Age: 26 1/2

Yaaay! My MAYers are still out there! :snooty:

OK! I'll get started on another post! :thumbsup2

Coming up ~ Hmmm...... I'm not sure!

It was so long ago! Let me go find my notes. :lmao:

Well, I am finally working on another post in my TR! I am so determined to finish this one!

I may be a little groggy on the details, I turned old on this trip remember? LOL. My memory isn’t what it used to be. But at least you guys will have some fun pictures to get you through until your next trips. :cloud9:

A lot of people say that you don’t need to spend much time at Animal Kingdom because it’s boring and too much like a “zoo” but Bob and I feel the opposite way entirely! I would much rather spend time here because to me this is the park that has the best theming of all of them aside from MK. I could spend hours just looking at the way that they laid out the streets of Harambe and walking around Asia, picking up all the little details! I love it! And that’s what we went to do today, just to take in the scenery, do some people watching and try to take our time and enjoy Animal Kingdom for the last time until next time.

So - anyway! On with the show!!!

We woke up and hit AK a little after rope drop. We knew that this day was more about sightseeing than about rides, but still went straight over to EE again because we always like to ride it at least 2 times. We stopped to take a few pictures along the way, tried to get in line before we grabbed our FP’s, but because of the crazy storms the night before the ride was….DOWN!!! Oh no!!!!! This was my biggest nightmare! I am always so afraid that when I go to WDW one of my favorite rides won’t be working and I didn’t even have time to mentally prepare for this!! So, we decided to grab FP’s now to use for later just in case the Yeti ever wanted to come out and play. Because of this, we found ourselves with a little extra time, so we went over towards Dinosaur again. After riding Dino and laughing at the terrible picture of me screaming like a little girl, we decided that since we had never been to Dinoland USA that we should take a peek around and see what they had.

Bob has been dying to ride Primevil Whirl ever since he saw the ‘Fan’s Guide: Walt Disney World’ on TV and he saw that it was a coaster that spins at the same time. Now, I don’t know if I made it clear enough from my other posts – but – I DON’T DO SPINNY RIDES. I just can’t. I need Dramamine just from riding in the back seat of a car. So, when I saw that the wait time was only 5 minutes, I gave a huge *sigh* and said “Ok, but if I get sick – you’re the one who will have to listen to me whine all day” Bob’s eyes bugged out like one of those old school Bugs Bunny cartoons.

So, we jumped in line and waited and waited… and waited….

5 minutes…. Was actually about 45 minutes, because apparently they had never changed the sign. Great, now I am waiting longer that I have ever waited for ANY ride at Disney ever. And it’s one that I don’t even want to ride. All I can think about is me ruining my last day at AK because of my motion sickness. But, this is the exact same situation as the stupid marshmallows that we ordered from Goofy’s Candy Co. I waited this long and I am not leaving. I am riding this stupid ride.

But when we finally got on it was actually really fun! I didn’t get that dizzy from it and I am glad that I can say I did it. Will I do it again? Nope. Never…. Well, probably not... But, it made Bob happy and that always makes me happy.

We left Primevil Whirl and looked around Dinoland for a few minutes. I was really disappointed with this part of AK. I think it could have been a lot cooler that what it is. It seems like a cheesy old amusement park that tries to steal all your money on stupid carnival games... Bummer.

So, we headed back towards EE crossing our fingers… AND!

It was still shut down.
Arrrgh. So, what do you do when you can't ride a ride that you want to....You take pictures of it and pretend that you're really happy about it!

So after we took a few fun pictures of ourselves in front of the sign for Everest and watching what they were working on, we started making our way out of Asia to see what else we could find. We were headed over to the Safari when we passed FoW and saw that a show was just about to start. I usually have no ambition to see this show, because this to me always seemed a little too much like those pet star TV shows …. But I was sooo happy we stopped! All of the things that those birds can do is just incredible! I got some pretty cool pictures, and Bob and I both agreed that this will definitely be something that we do again.

We saw how long the line was for the Safari, so we made an executive decision to go grab FP’s and go over to Rafiki’s Conservation station. We went last year and thought that it was really cool that you could see the animals receiving care and learn more about them. So off we went! Last year when we first got there, we saw a bird in surgery. This year, we had just missed a frog. But, we still looked around. We saw a ginormous snake and they had just fed him. There were frozen mice in his cage!!! Now, I am a super sissy…. If they were live mice I would have broke down crying like a baby. I feel guilty when I kill bugs. I cry when I see roadkill. I am a wimp. But for some reason I couldn’t look away. And now, I am even more scared of snakes than I was before. Which makes this next part interesting.

Yep…. I did it. I pet a snake. And it was awesome. It felt like really really soft leather. Like an amazing leather jacket that you know you shouldn’t buy because it costs more than a month of your mortgage soft. It was pretty cool. And now I have the pictures to show how awesomely unafraid I was… Well…. … Kinda. Hahaha

We decided after a little more sightseeing that it was time to hit up lunch before going to the Safari. We have tried Yak & Yeti and were planning on going back today. Since we were on the other side of the park we wanted to try something that was a little closer to us, so we tried Pizzafari for the first time. The food was good, not great – not terrible. Overall, I think we would try it again. I had a cheese pizza meal and Bob had an Italian sandwich. Mine came with a Caesar salad on the side which I immediately gave to Bob. I am not a ranch/cream based/mayo kind of a girl and the dressing on that salad was waaaay too thick for me. But, he said that he liked it.

So, when our bellies were full we went to the Safari and then over to the Maharajah Jungle Trek to see if we could find some animals that we missed last year. We were starting to get a little sleepy after about an hour on the Trek, so we decided that it was time to head back to the resort to rest up and get ready for our big night out!

Amen to that sista! We :lovestruc Animal Kingdom! We spent two full days there and I can't wait to go back. It is just so amazingly beautiful. Do you think anyone would mind if I just moved in??? :confused3

:furious:

Never in a million bazillion years would I EVER touch a snake unless my life seriously depended on it! I woudn't even take a picture of one! In fact, I'm sweating a little just knowing those pics are on my screen. Psychiatrist, anyone? :rotfl2: Do you think you're less afraid of them now that you've touched one and didn't die?

I've always wondered about this...when you were in culinary school, did you have to eat all the stuff you don't like? Take me, for instance...I can't stand to eat anything that swims. Yuck! It seems like I'd still have to eat it in order to learn about it, right? So no culinary school for me, I guess. :rolleyes1

That Bob is always cracking me up! Here is is...12:44 a.m. in my silent house and I'm laughing right out loud. My kitties are looking at me like I'm nutso!

My favorite animal of all time! That is a fabulous picture of my elusive Okapi friend! Aren't they just the coolest???

More, more, more!!! :yay:

Bob's favorite is the Okapi too! :goodvibes We always have to make a pit stop and he always tells the the same story about which family the Okapi is in (the giraffe is the closest relative, even though it looks like a zebra)

He's an idiot. He makes Disney as awesome as it is.

BEWARE!!!! SUPER CHEESY MOMENT ALERT -

I don't think I would love it nearly as much as I do if I didn't have someone like him to share it with :cloud9: He just makes it so much more fun.

OK. I'm done! :lmao:

They *encourage* you to try everything, but everyone has dislikes and allergies. So if there is something that you absolutely do not want to eat you just have to use your other senses to know if it's right. I would always have someone else try something (for example - Deviled Eggs ) and ask how they taste, if they taste how they should, what's too much, what's too little - and then try to just remember what I did. A lot of things that I won't eat are the things that people love the most that I make. :confused3 I guess I do have a good memory.

Awwww Heather you and Bob are just too cute together! I love when my DH turns into a big kid in Disney too!

We saw the bird show - can't think of the name of it right now- last trip and we loved it too! My DS was laughing so hard when the bird flew over our heads that he slipped off the seat. :lmao:

Thanks Kim :flower3: He's an idiot, but he's MY idiot

It's called Flights of Wonder. I always thought that it would be kind of predictable and boring, but since we had time to kill - we watched it and I was so happy we did. :goodvibes

I'm glad that you are reading! I started to read yours because of the 'scrapbook' in the title. I am waaaaay behind though! :sad2:

Yaaay for you leaving in 3 weeks!!! :woohoo: I want to see the big reveal - but I have to wait until I get home to see the pictures. :headache:

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:
