"What I did on my Summer Vacation" By: Heather K Age: 26 1/2

Hey MAYers :snooty: Thanks for stopping over!

Great update! :goodvibes I totally agree - LOVE Soarin, could ride it all day! HATE M:S, never again. And I mean that - NEVER!! (Sorry Sulley! :guilty:)

So was it as hot as last May? How about the crowds, more or less?

It was just as hot, but not quite as humid. Even though it rained more... I could take nice dry heat all day. :cloud9:

But when it's thick and hard to breathe.. UGH, no thanks.

Another great day, RF!

You and Bob have so much fun!!! :yay:

Thanks Trix! We're just a bunch of big kids too. It was Walt Disney that said "Adults are just kids grown up, anyway" :thumbsup2

What a fantastic day at my Fave park!!!!

I'm going to read it again and pretend I was there with you guys.

:lmao:
Okay, just kidding. Don't want to freak ya out or anything.:rotfl2:

Anyway---
I'm so glad you met Sulley--- and uh-uh- me either. I'm not riding M:S again. Sorry Sulley.:flower3::snooty::flower3:

Glad your day was great!:wizard:

Thanks for the update.

Jo

LOL. It's cool JO. It doesn't look like were getting our MAYer meet in anytime soon - so pretend away.

I bet we can get Sea to photoshop you into a couple pics.

:rotfl2:

He's crafty like that

You guys are rock stars!

Thanks NC! I know that you know the feeling! ;) I felt like a celebrity for sure. People kept recognizing us and trying to talk to us about it. :yay:

Hey RF -- just read your WHOLE report -- parts 1 AND 2 -- on my lunch break :goodvibes Great TR!!! Can't wait to read the next installment...

Thanks KB!!! I was hoping that the 1st part wouldn't go unnoticed. I don't know what happened. I can only assume that since it wasnt' posted on for so long..............oops :rolleyes1..........that they closed it. :confused3 I am really excited that you like it! Keep reading!! I'm only about half way there!

This was so dang funny, I nearly spit ice cream on my keyboard!

Thank you, thank you.

I'll be here all week

NO... Seriously though... That's all Bob. He's so fun and ridiculous and silly.

I guess I'm a pretty lucky girl :lovestruc

LOL. It's not ignorance. :goodvibes It's a thread...

A couple years ago a few people started chatting about their upcoming MAY trips to WDW. I joined in about a year after they had all been chatting with each other. People have come and gone from the thread and most of us started going at different times of the year - but all still chat every day.

We call ourselves MAYers... and snooty here is our 'mascot' - - ->:snooty:

Because we're exclusive like that. :lmao:

J/K!! Everybody on that thread are very very sweet people and welcome new DISers to the thread to chat all the time. :yay:

But nobody ever sticks around....

Hmmm.... :confused3

I wonder why...We're super fun...

DAY 6!!

We wanted to try and see our favorites (Animal Kingdom and Magic Kingdom) as early and late in the trip as possible – but next time I think we’ll alternate a liiiitle bit better. Because here we are! Back at DHS again!

Today was another day that we had planned on sleeping in. HA! It just doesn’t happen. I get too excited. I’m like a kid in a candy store.

Oh, wait! That’s exactly the plan today! Bob and I planned on visiting DTD today in the morning and heading over to DHS from there. What we were most excited to see was Goofy’s Candy Co. – we had never been inside before and we were totally ready to use some snack credits there! Last Christmas my aunt, uncle and cousin had returned from a trip to WDW in the beginning of Dec and brought back some ta-a-a-asty treats from Goofy’s to serve at Christmas. Since then Bob and I have been dreaming about them…Mmmm…..Butterfinger and Chocolate covered Marshmallows…YUUUMMMM!

So, we woke up a little later than normal - threw on our bathing suits and grabbed a little coffee at the food court. We decided to take a dip in the pool before we ventured out, so I could get some sun and make everyone at home jealous. ;) I really like the pools at POP. They are a little bit busier than the pools at POR where we stayed for our honeymoon last year, but I actually liked that. We are very active and if we are just floating around staring at each other in a ‘quiet pool’ we get very bored. So, I would much rather be surrounded by splashing kids and get hit in the head with a beach ball a few times just to liven it up a little bit. LOL. :rotfl:

Completely rejuvenated from the pool and after getting dolled up for the day, we were on our way to DTD! We didn’t have much in mind besides Goofy’s and World of Disney (I could spend hours in there!!) So, we just took in the scenery and stopped into Basin to pick up a request for sugar scrub for my aunt. I really like the soaps there, but YIKES! They were super expensive. Maybe next year! We made our purchase and went next door to the WoD. I picked up some things for some friends :snooty: and still had a hole burning in my pocket from my Birthday Gift Card, so I went in and loaded up on a bunch of stuff for my ‘Mickey Kitchen.’ I have been planning this imaginary kitchen for as long as I have been house hunting! (You’ll be happy to know that we found the perfect house to accommodate Mickey!! And that is part of the reason that this report was on hold for so long... Ooops. :rolleyes1) so after contemplating for a while, I bought a Mickey teapot, ice cube tray, hand towel set, serving platter and 3 potholders!!

After I blew my allowance for the month , we went to Earl of Sandwich to grab a sandwich for lunch. I tried the ‘American’ something or other - which had turkey breast, lettuce, tomato, cheddar cheese, cranberry sauce and ranch dressing. I am not a mayo/creamy dressing kind of a girl AT ALL, so I got mine sans ranch and it was really good! After getting his last kiss of the day, LOL. Bob dug into a roast beef sandwich with cheddar and a creamy horseradish sauce. He and I both really enjoyed it there, so I think we’ll be going back sometime. I highly recommend it!

Following lunch we checked out the Art of Disney where I bought a Disney print to put up in my kitchen and then went into the Scrapbook store. I always expect this store to be better than it is… So after a few minutes looking for hidden treasures in there we figured that we had explored DTD enough for one day and that we were ready to hit up Goofy’s and head to DHS!

Goofy’s is really cute inside, and after we took a few pictures – we put in our orders. In about 40 minutes ... seriously……. 40 minutes…. We were leaving Goofy’s with our treats in hand and on the road for DHS!

We took this pic to send a text home to make everyone jealous….

504.jpg

I was finishing my last bites of gooey marshmallow goodness as we were walking into the park. First things first… FP ToT! Since we had accomplished so much on our 1st day (I know, it may not seem like it from the report – but believe me we did!”) We had a lot of time to kill, and not too much that we still had to see before our early dinner ADR at Brown Derby. Despite our best efforts, we have never seen LMA, and Bob was really itching to see it this trip. We decided to try to go and on the way to the arena, we kind of got lost.

I don’t know how it happened. I know WDW like the back of my hand!! But, for some reason when you stick me in the back part of DHS It takes me a hot minute to get myself straight. LOL. So, we were about 10 minutes late for the show. We really didn’t want to miss half of it by the time we got in there and found a place to sit – so we scratched it this year and I SWORE to him as long as we get to come back.... we will see it next year.

Mwuaaahhhahahahahahahahaaaaa.

You see how that works... :rolleyes1

Ahhh, honey you’re so easy. :lovestruc

So, we went towards the Backlot Tour! We didn’t get to see that last year either (I am telling you – everything but Sunset Blvd is a mystery to me at DHS) so Bob had never seen it and it had been years since I was on that ride. We had a lot of fun going behind the scenes and seeing the costumes and everything.

As soon as we had returned from the tour we ventured towards more familiar territory. The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror…eek! I love ToT! It is probably my favorite ride at DHS! I think I liked it a little bit better before they re-vamped it and when you used to just drop straight down. The pictures were always way more hilarious. Now, sometimes they catch you at a spot when you’re going up and everyone is just sitting there looking all bored. No fun...

I have the funniest picture of me and my family when I was about 17 and I went to WDW with my aunt and uncle. Me and my Uncle Jack are cracking up looking like we are going to pee our pants from laughing at my Aunt Stacy and Cousin Michael, who look like they are going to pass out from screaming so much. :rotfl2: It is definitely one of my favorite pictures ever!! I’ll see if I can find a scanner and put it up for you guys.

After we made it back alive from our adventure at the Hollywood Hills Hotel, Bob and I tried to see what the wait was like for a FP RnRC. Yeah right! They were already gone for the day and there was no way that we were going to wait an hour in line. We knew that this was one of the risks for coming to Hollywood Studios this late in the day – so decided that we would let our only trips on RnRC this trip to WDW be the 2 that we had all by ourselves after being FoTD! :woohoo: That was fine by us!

Thanks for explaining!

I love the dis, you really meet the nicest people here.

I found out this weekend that there may be a Disney cruise in my future...not definite yet, but a strong possibility.

Can't wait to hear about another fun day of your trip :) Hope you had a good weekend.

OMG! I posted this at the EXACT same time you posted your update, so I'll have to get back to you after I read it....lol

Also, it didn't take 40 minutes for your order at Goofy's to come through right? You just meant that you guys looked around for 40 minutes, yes? Just wondering...I've never been there & 40 minutes is a long wait even for a marshmallow, chocolate peanut butter cups rice crispie treat.

So, we went back to Sunset Blvd – but not before taking a few photos doing our best to pay homage to Steven Tyler.:rockband: LOL. We spent a lot of time looking around in the shops on the Blvd and taking pictures before it started to rain and we were running over to see the VoTLM for the first time. I really had no idea what to expect from this show because I had never seen it. I LOVED IT! The effects were so cool and it was done really well I thought. I really felt like I was under the sea in a few of those parts! And then we left the theatre and I still felt like I was under the sea. It was pouring outside!!! Luckily it was just about 4:30 and we were going over to HBD for our ‘F! Priority Seating’ ADR. :thumbsup2

We waited a few minutes and after taking in the scenery and being seated. We started to look over the menu. I ordered a Malibu and Pineapple juice, and after tasting it Bob got the same thing. :thumbsup2 I got the seared scallop appetizer, Ahi Tuna as an entrée and some kind of a peanut butter cake for dessert. Bob ordered the Crab Cake, Seared Salmon, and the famous ‘Grapefruit Cake’ per my suggestion. (Mostly because I was curious to taste it….:rolleyes1) Hmmm, so after one bite and a face like the one after he tasted Beverly. It was obvious that he.did.not.like.it.at.all. Oops, Sorry babe…. But, ya live ya learn, right?

As we were being served our food all week I had been taking pictures of it to do a dining report on the Dis when we got home. I snapped a picture of our appetizers and a woman sitting next to me was like ‘OH! I thought I was the only one that was doing that! I felt so silly!’ And I said, ‘Yeah… Me too on the first day – but now I bust out the camera and take a few different angles! Who cares!!!’ :thumbsup2

Her name was Angela and it turns out that she is also on the Dis! That was our 1st run in with a Diser when it wasn’t planned! She told us that she was meeting up with a bunch of people on Saturday night for Spectro at 8:00 at Aloha Isle and invited us to go. We told her that we were planning in seeing Spectro that night already, so she may see us there!

For the life of me I cannot remember exactly what we did after eating…Stupid memory. I know that it was still raining buckets and around 7:00 we tried to get a seat at AI to get our wet selves out of the rain and to see the finale show. Apparently, everyone else at DHS that day had the same idea, so we were left out in the cold. Literally – we stood outside in the rain and watched it on the big screen. Bob and I were rooting for a pregnant woman that we knew was actually staying at POP, because we had seen her around our resort! AND SHE WON!!! Good for her!

After the show we figured that it was time to start to make our way towards the Ampatheatre to get some seats for F! We had priority seating, but they still say to show up 45 minutes early. :confused3 We grabbed a spot and waited for the show to start. After some more rain, a pitiful attempt at doing ‘the wave’ and a few poncho pictures. The show started! I love F! I know that people would say that I am crazy for waiting out in the rain and going to see it when there are only 2 showings in a week – but it was sooo worth it! Besides, what else were we going to do!?!? It would be raining everywhere else too!

Sorcerer Mickey had once again defeated the dragon and made a lap around the lagoon with his pals – and then we were on our way to ToT! I had a little bit of Déjà vu…This was shaping up to be kind of like our last trip to WDW for our honeymoon.

Except, the 1st time around we had some VIP treatment. :snooty:

Last year, we went to F! and on way up to the seats – we were stopped by a CM who saw our ‘Bride and Groom’ ears and asked if we were just married. We said yes, and she asked if we would like to sit in their VIP section!! Well, now that you mention it. Ummm, YEAH we would!!!!! :woohoo: So, while we were sitting there – we met a girl in front of us named Genevieve. She was a CM for WDW and we were talking to her the whole hour before the show started. Afterward, she asked us if we wanted to try to make it to ToT and RnRC before they closed down.

HECK YES WE DO!!!!

We took off with her and before you know it, she was taking us through the CM entrances and hopped right on both of the rides with NO WAIT at all!!!! It was awesome!! I felt like a rock star! :cool2:

So, anyway – this years ending wasn’t quite so magical.. But we still were able to hop on ToT for one last ride until next year!!!

UP NEXT!!!! ANIMAL KINGDOM!!!

You want me to pet…. a what!??! :scared1:

Yes, we looked at TrenD. I thought it was super cute in there! Very...umm.... Aeropostale, AE, Hollister but with a Mickey twist. I liked it, but didn't like anything that I found enough to pay what they were asking for it... KWIM?

And yes, we were in Goofy's for 40 minutes. But it was NOT by choice.

The woman that was making our order had about 4 slips that she kept picking up and looking at them. And then kept putting them back down. And then picking them back up, and looking at them and then putting tham back down...

And then she kept going "Ohhh, Ohhhhhh" Kind of like "HOW WILL I EVER GET THIS ALL DONE!"

:confused3

:rolleyes1

:headache:

Seriously... There were 4 orders , not 400.

It's pretty laughable now. But at the time :sad2:. We kept saying that we were going to leave.

But then we just kept waiting because we were always like, "But we waited this long already"....

I can't wait to check out TrenD for myself! I saw a picture online, but that's as close as I've come so far. I wonder if they take the birthday gift card...

Also, it sounds like you used yours on more than one day? I wasn't sure if you had to use it all on your b-day or not.

Wow! 40 minutes waiting for your Goofy snacks is a little much...gosh, what would that lady have done if there were 5 orders? Now that would have been mayhem!!! :lmao:

But it's like murphys law right...as soon as you gave up and walked out she would have called you!

I was worried that you would only be able to use the B-day gift card on the day of your birthday also, but they changed that and you can use it whenever! :woohoo:

I am really enjoying your trip report! You two seem like such fun people!:goodvibes

Welcome! party:

Thanks for reading! :goodvibes

We do have a ton of fun :yay: - but it's mostly my DH acting like an idiot and me playing along.

Keep reading! I am going to be updating our 2nd AK day soon!!!

Great report, Heather! It's so funny...I didn't like MS Orange, but the Green side was fine for me, and I LOVE Soarin', lovelovelove :lovestruc it, could ride it over and over, and none of it bothers me one bit, even the zoom over LA traffic (maybe because I grew up in LA and I'm used to it?)

But...ToT?????

Nope.

Did it twice.

First time, I was in shock, but said, okay, I did it. :crazy2:

Second time, I said, "um...okay, I don't like drop rides. :scared: AT ALL.":scared1:
:faint:
I won't ride it again :sad2:

Good to know...my husbands b-day is in Nov, so we're already scoping out what we might get then ;)

Mines on Dec 30 and I know the parks will be crazy that day so I didn't really want to use the card, it's awesome that I don't have to use it all in one day.

LOL. I can handle 'thrill' rides... In fact I live for thrill rides! But give me spinny rides, or virtual kind of stuff. It's lights out for me... :sad2:

I would double check when he picks it up (that has to be on his actual birthday) if he can split it up and use it a bunch of different times. I know that you can use it on a different day that your birthday - but I used it all at once. :rolleyes1

But, I don't see why not... :confused3

I would just hate to be the person that was like "Oh yeah!!! You can use it whenev!" And then have you lose it or something.

Any more word on the cruise? Did you bring it up to your DH?

Hi guys! Checking in! I don't want you guys to think that I forgot about you!!! :goodvibes

I work for a major bank in downtown Pittsburgh. We are trying to hammer all the details out before the G20 Summit comes in a little over a week. :scared1:

I know that this is supposed to be a great thing for the city - to show that we aren't the stereotypical 'Yinzers' and we are more cutting edge with technology than people would generally associate with the city. And to bring some positive attention to the area... But honestly, I can't wait for this to be over! It's a nightmare. Transportation into the city is being cut drastically. People are already starting to protest... I am being sent to Cleveland for the week to work - and then I am going to Ocean City MD for vacation.

So - hang in there guys! I will finish this one this time!

Promise :flower3:

Looking forward to the rest of your report! popcorn::
