Where is the best hotel to stay at the night before the cruise? Do any have shuttles to the port with complementary parking like near some airports? Trying to keep it economical since we won't be spending much time there. Any input is appreciated.

We're just back from the Jan.4 Magic druise and we stayed at the Radisson Resort at the Port Friday night. (We even got to meet Dave and go to Fawn's aka Joanna wedding! Hi Dave) The Radisson is a beautiful resort with what looked like a beautiful pool, unfortunately it was too cold to swim. We had a suite with a rate I found on their web site for $99.00 and the regular rooms were $79.00. The suite was beautiful! There were 2 seperate rooms. The bedroom had a large whirlpool tub and there was a microwave and refrigerator in the sofa area. They have complimetary transportation to the DCL terminal. I would definitely stay there again!

I too had a suite the last stay there. Plus you can park in their lot for free if you drive.

We're spluging a bit (and we got a good deal) and staying at Animal Kingdom Lodge at WDW so we can spend a bit of time at Magic Kingdom!

We like to do the night before on the "cheap," particularly since we usually get in pretty late. I can get something on Priceline in the MCO area for $28 to $29 (anything from te Renaissance to the Marriott...I only bid three star because two and a half might stick us at the HORRIBLE La Quinta...once there was enough!). Otherwise, I can get the Amerisuites for around $33. All of them have free shuttles, and sometimes you get a free continental breakfast too. We get a good night's sleep and have Happy Limo pick us up in the morning when we are nice and refreshed...we like that better than doing the long drive to the port after a late arrival.

We are driving and will be coming from North Carolina so I guess something on the ocean are is preferable.

disneydawn-

We are basically neighbors!

Anyway, we stayed at the Comfort Suites in Cocoa Beach last January. It is one block from the ocean. It was clean and inexpensive. We got a real cheap rate through a travel club we belong to but the regular rate was not that much either. It was maybe 2 miles from the Radisson. They do not offer parking during the cruise or a shuttle to the port.

In October we stayed at the Radisson. We did not have a suite and used a code from this board to get a regular room for $59- and we parked there during the cruise at no charge. The shuttle was very convenient -basically no waiting time. After the cruise we were headed back north by 9:00 and we had the late breakfast time on board. Remember parking at the port is about $10/day now.

SC Minnie... we are neighbors!!! I am in Weddington, NC. We go to Fort Mill often. In fact, we were thinking about heading there to Captain Steve's for dinner tonight! Thanks for the info. Where did you get the code for the Radisson? Was in the hotel section here? Thanks again. Dawn

Know Captain Steve's well. We go there for lunch more often than dinner. The lines are just too long by the time we get over there in the evening. I used to go through Weddington to get to Charlotte when we lived in Lancaster. I have seen several people on this board from our area.

As for the code I got it on this board. Post a thread asking if anyone has a code for the time of year you are going. If I remember correctly the code was FALL or something but has since expired. It was posted about a month or so before we were going.

The room we were in was just fine. There is only 3 in our family so a suite was not necessary. A room with 2 beds was fine for the night. They have a very nice pool there too. There are restaurants on both sides of the hotel. We walked to one for dinner one night and to the other for breakfast.

Barb, what La Quinta did you hate so much? I booked the LaQuinta W by the airport because we have paid for Disney transfers and I got the best price off the web from them. There are three of us (adults) so it was hard to go through some of the web sites. I am now having palpitations thinking that this hotel is really awful. Please advise!:D :D :D We are on the 02/06/03 cruise.

Dave is 100 percent correct...that is the one! It is the one that does not have suites. I have full details in my trip #27 report. I am sticking to three star bids now...just got the airport Marriott for March for $29. We just stayed there last week...my only complaint was that they would not put us in a non-smoking room (I usually bring a doctor's note explaining about my respiratory problems, but I didn't have it). However, their smoking room was better smelling than the LaQuinta's supposedly non-smoking room, where even the towels reeked! And I won't even try to explain the breakfast and the desk clerk...it was like a hotel from Twin Peaks.

Oh well. I figured out that it would cost me too much money to cancel out of LaQuinta and reserve something else so we are just renting a car (we're getting into Orlando mid-afternoon) and taking a drive to Downtown Disney or the Boardwalk. At least it's only for one night!! I won't do that again-it's my first cruise so I guess that was my first lesson!:bounce: :bounce:
