What hotel should I choose this time around?

Making my triumphant return to DLR but with some friends who might experience sticker shock of GCH, which is where I normally stay. I've also stayed at Hojo Anaheim which I love but is coming up for $300 a night for our dates for my typical Building 1 - Park View room. Do you guys remember Entertainment Rates when we could book those for $60?? 😂

I've essentially narrowed it down to these so far for my dates. Curious what route you think is our best bet at these rates per night taking into consideration quality, value, and proximity.

Disneyland Hotel
$377

Grand Californian
$467

Hojo Anaheim
$300

Hilton Garden Inn Anaheim Resort
$181

Best Western Plus Mini-Suites
$244

JW Marriott Anaheim
$260

With those rates I’d go with DLH, HoJo would be at the bottom of my list for that price.
How are the rates at Courtyard Marriott Theme Park Entrance and Fairfield Inn for your dates?
Or Springhill Suites, about the same distance as HoJo’s, maybe a minute or 2 farther but closer than JW Marriott and probably Hilton Garden.

I saw the Fairfield but I took it off the list because it said room was 228 sq ft. Is that right? That's pretty tiny compared to the others.

Yes the rooms at the Fairfield are pretty small and it has mainly exterior corridors hence the price but it’s a good hotel with the amenities and quality you’d expect from a Marriott.
Courtyard though, that’s a great rate for that hotel, probably as nice as any other, close to DLH quality with a great pool area. I’d easily put it second on your list behind DLH (my favourite) and if your friends baulk at the $377, you don’t lose a lot by staying at the Courtyard Marriott. Closer to the gates than DLH as well.

Having stayed at a number of Harbor hotels and DLH, the daily walk from the Fairfield is probably shorter. DLH is worth it to me if you have young kids, like nice pools, and use your early entry. I pretty much just sleep in my room. I'd like a decent one but walk time is a top consideration for me.

Sorry to horn in on an existing thread, but I have a similar dilemma.

We are planning a last minute trip (three weeks out). We are flying from Ohio, meeting my sister in law, staying in the DL area for 2 nights, spending most of 3 days in the parks. She will have an ECV.

After lots of perusing review sites, etc., I am torn between DLH and the Residence Inn (next to the Springhill at Harbor and Katella). Right now I have both booked. DLH is currently about $450 more total, but I will be calling on July 6, when the military discount drops, to see if I can lower the cost. I’m not counting on it, since it’s so soon and availability is limited, but a girl can dream, right?

We are on-property snobs at WDW, but not so much at DL. We have stayed a GCH and PP, but not DLH yet. I would love to try it, but several things have me leaning toward the Residence Inn. We have 3 adults sharing a room, so the extra living room area (we’d get what they call a 1-bedroom) would be nice for the extra space. There is also free breakfast. The rooftop pool looks nice. We would definitely be swimming, so the pool is important. But that fireworks headboard, y’all!!

The walk to the park gates looks to be close to the same distance from each, with DLH a couple minutes closer. I’ve made the walk from a hotel farther down Harbor, so I know what that is like. It might be nicer to make that walk through Downtown Disney, though!

Has anyone stayed at that Residence Inn? Thoughts? Budget is not the primary consideration, more the total experience for 3 adults.

Thanks!

I’d opt for the DLH because (in theory) you could get from Tomorrowland to close to your hotel via monorail. (It’s not currently running I don’t think). Or if leaving DCA you could walk through the GC. BOTH option more pleasant than schlepping down Harbor, esp if you want a midday break.

Are two rooms at DLH an option?

We stayed on Harbor this last trip but my kids were determined to go to DTD when the parks closed. I wished we were at DLH.

I haven’t stayed at either hotel so take my advice for what it’s worth.

Everything I am reading says the monorail is not operating, but thanks for the suggestions. I agree it's a more pleasant walk, for sure.

Oh, my, nope. I know I said budget wasn't a primary consideration, but we aren't crazy, either! LOL

I do enjoy DTD at night.

I am definitely leaning toward DLH, and will choose it for sure if I can get a military discount (and likely even if I don't!).

Thanks for the inputs!

That us true, if Tomorrowland is where you want to start. But you have to consider the walk time added for elsewhere in the park or for California Adventure. In fairness as well, unless I am planning on spending a considerable time in my room, I just don't see paying for some of the fluff that I could use on things in the park.

We have typically stayed at Desert Inn, in the past, which isn't a high end hotel but is decent and right at the park entry at Harbor. Having done DLH and Desert Inn in 2018, from a cost and convenience standpoint I like the Harbor options. I'm trying Fairfield for my October trip.

Oh yeah. I’m too cheap for DLH and usually stay at Desert Inn. But the person who asked was trying to decide between DLH and Residence Inn.

also I was thinking of ending the day at Tomorrowland, or taking a midday break, and getting on the monorail to DTD. I Definitely like to start my day on Main Street USA!

I think Fairfield was also an option they were looking at as well. But I get it. They were clearly not too concerned with cost in the same way some would be. My DLH experience was courtesy of my bestie who is a DVC member, usually at GC, who had been trying to get me to go with them for years. I bought their Park tickets in exchange for them providing the hotel and with us all getting her hubs military discount that was still a deal. I would never splurge for it but enjoyed the experience but teenage daughter and I decided it really wasn't worth the cash.. although she did enjoy the access to the Dole Whips in the hotel cafe. The walk every morning was a killer and the monorail was down most days due to heat.

I see the disconnect. I was responding to a new question mid-thread. In any event, jealous of any on-property stays!!
