Hi
I would like to hear please what other hobbies / content do you usually read/follow/do other than Disney?

I don’t like to follow news (too negative)… I sometimes follow sports.. but past years it’s been all Disney (disboards, dvc, blogs, vlogs, tweets, instagram)… and It seems too much already LOL… but haven't figured what other type of forums could I join or what other content is interesting / positive / soul growing you could recommend?

Thanks in advance!

Well, it's the typical nerd stuff for me - comic books, video games, movies, action figures. I didn't even become a huge Disney nerd until relatively recently. Of course, at this point Disney owns a good lot of all that stuff anyway. I mean, I love Star Wars, and it used to be seperate from Disney, but now it is lumped in. I love Nintendo mostly for video games, but like other stuff too. With comics I prefer DC to marvel, but the opposite is true for the movies.

Have you tried Goodreads if you enjoy reading? It has a community feature.

I have also found random interesting blogs through Pinterest posts, particularly for cooking.

I just deactivated Facebook, but lots of groups on there. However, the comments and hatefulness - even in benign groups like Pioneer Woman - was making my depression worse than it already is!

I am over Disney right now, but this Community group keeps me going some days, even though most don't realize it.

For the last 11 years it’s been my DD18’s softball career - I’ve always been one of her travel coaches (I had time off from this during HS softball seasons). She’s now playing in college, so we’ll be traveling to watch her play on the weekends.

Puzzles - I love doing puzzles

Reading novels

Cooking family meals - we rarely eat out and almost never get fast food (unless we are away from home and have no choice) because I genuinely enjoy meal planning, trying new recipes and cooking.

Baking, especially Bundt cakes - this I don’t do that often only because if you bake it, then you have to eat it. I make a Bundt cake about once a month and I have fun making different flavors. I’m making a cherry one in a few weeks.

Working Out - I love working out. I do this three times a week

I love Goodreads
I‘ve been faithfully entering what I’m reading for 5 years now - it’s fun to go back and see what I’ve read each year.

I do too!!! There is a great community on Reddit for jigsaw puzzle lovers that I read daily. I have discovered so many great puzzles and learned so much from them. I never knew that puzzling could be so involved before!

Also, there is a great app available called Jigsaw Puzzles (it has a picture of Mickey Mouse on it). It is free and has a great selection of puzzles, including Disney themed ones. You can earn coins when you do puzzles, that you can then use to "buy" other puzzle packs.

This is us as well. I enjoy the planning and finding new recipes, but I'm not as enthusiastic about pulling it all off in the end, as I get really tired by the end of the day. I am fairly good at cooking though. We don't eat out often and have been able to recreate a lot of our own favourites at home. We have and Ooni for making pizza weekly, my husband has smash burgers and reverse seared steaks mastered, we have our own recipes for Chipotle burritos/bowls, we have a smoker for making ribs, chicken, and brisket. My husband says he is limited in what he can eat when he goes out to a restaurant for work, as he refuses to pay for anything that we make better at home. The only issue I have is that what is considered "fast food" in a restaurant, generally takes a LONG time to prepare at home. Those Chipotle burrito bowls take two days, by the time you make the meat marinade and get it in the fridge for 24 hours and then start making the rice, salsas, veggies, guacamole, etc. It tastes great and feeds a lot of people (or we have leftovers for future meals), so it is worth it in the end.

Other interests I have include cross-stitching, thrifting, list-making (come up with a topic and brainstorm ideas to build thinking skills), modern board games, playing game apps on my tablet (I love Monkey Wrench, Tiny Little Crosswords, Puzzle Page, Cody Cross, Path Pix, etc.) and sometimes colouring.

Travel is my biggie. I don't participate in many forums other than the DIS, but I'm a member of several interest- or demographic-specific travel groups on Facebook and actually just added a couple more as I work on modding my new Jeep to use as a camping rig. That's also led me into a few hiking and photography groups, both online and IRL, and the vanlife/nomad community on Insta is an endless source of inspiration for future adventures.

Other than that, I read a lot, garden, craft, draw, and generally nerd out over various learning resources like Duolingo, Yousician and Craftsy to try out new skills, but I don't really have a social element to any of that. Goodreads was a bit social but I dropped it when I "broke up" with Amazon and Story Graph, which is my replacement for a reading log app, doesn't have a big enough user base to really have that social angle. I have an IRL craft group that I go to sporadically, especially if I'm stuck on a new project or skill, and help out at a couple of community gardens in my area when the weather is agreeable. Since I work from home, I try to make an effort not to have all my socializing be in the virtual world!

Besides Disney, my other hobby is live music, mostly country. We've been to quite a few concerts over the years, big & small and I'm always looking for more. Have made some lifelong friends across the country and countless memories.

Sounds more like you’re looking to read a message board about a hobby than do the hobby. The only hobby that I read a message board about is travel / TripAdvisor or Disney ones.

Hobbies - reading, biking, swimming/lake activities, Zumba, genealogy, some crafts. Bit of baking.

Reading
Trying different local restaurants
travel
musical theatre
music
puzzles
Watching Korean Dramas on Netflix

The dis is the only online forum I spend any time on. No dvc, blogs, vlogs, tweets, or instagram for me! I spend enough time online with just this one.

I do follow news, as I think it is important to know what is going on in the country and world. I have online subscriptions to my local paper, which is the Washington Post, and the NY Times.

Everything else is offline for me. If I want to research travel I start with Google. I spend a lot of time walking, either on errands or in parks. Some reading sites have been mentioned already.
