What "higher end" restaurant is worth it?

We're trying to figure out what we should do with our two remaining TS credits. We are leaning toward seeing Hoop-Dee-Doo (we LOVE this place), but are there any others? I was also looking at Jiko and Flying Fish Cafe. Any help would be great! Note to moderator: please don't move again because the question has nothing to do with Disney Dining Plan, but the restaurants themselves. Thanks.

we are trying Jiiko for the first time in April....have you tried California Grill, we went in August and we have decided its our ' must do' on our last night at DW ;)

Personally I would rather shoot myself in both feet than go to HDD :rotfl: But in all seriousness, Jiko is great, as is Artist Point or even California Grill if you don't mind how noisy it is. There are some other great ones (il mulino, bluezoo or shula;s) but i don't think they are on the DDP

We had our first Signature Dining Experience in 2007 and picked the Flying Fish Cafe. It was GREAT (in our opinion anyway). The potato wrapped snapper fish was gooooooooood, and my SIL had steak which she also said was goooooooooooood. It's right on the Boardwalk so you can have dinner there and then watch some enterainment or continue your night with a trip to JellyRolls or Atlantic Dance Club. It is probably now one of our favorite restaurants and if we decide to do another Signature Dining this year (we won't be on the DDP) it will definitely be FF. :thumbsup2

California Grill is good, if not slightly over rated. We liked Citricos alot, and Artist Point.

I'm trying both Flying Fish and HDDR for the first time this next trip but for the other signature we tried last year, this is how I'd rate them:

1. Narcoossee's - always at the top for us, never had a bad experience, food always beyond delicious. And I will say always, the almond crusted cheesecake is to die for, and I don't like nuts. Plus, if you ask the dis or look for previous threads, you'll find Narcoossee's to be VERY loved, not many will say anything bad about it, if you had to pick one I'd suggest this one.
2. California Grill- food was very good, but the service was the best. Got there at 7:45 for an 8PM ressie, seated at 8:05 for a MK view table. Ordered drinks and apps, finished entree and ordered dessert just before 10PM wishes!
3. Artist Point- food and service we wonderful. First time I tried venison and buffalo and both were very good!
4. Yachtsman Steakhouse- don't get me wrong, I loved this one too, it just happens to at #4. It was merely the second best steak I had on property, the NY strip at Coral Reef was the better. My mom had the salmon and said it was exceptional... the service was great and the dessert was even better.
5. Jiko- Jiko is last because it was disappointing. Not to say it wasn't good, but all the hype on these boards sometimes leads to more disappointment. Let's just say of all the signatures we tried last year we won't be eating here in 2009, maybe later, just not soon.

Jiko is leading the pack right now. They are firing on all cylinders.
Great meal last week.

I've actually been to all the 2TS meals and honestly, the only place I can get myself to justify spending 2 TS is Flying Fish. The other signatures are great but Flying Fish, IMO, is just a smidge above the rest. Great atmosphere, great service, and amazing food.

It really depends on what you're in the mood for. I'd say that the Yachtsman certainly provides an excellent experience with rich flavors like the lobster bisque, the cheese course, and the eponymous steaks. The California Grill is certainly an excellent choice as well with lighter dishes that run the gambit from goat cheese ravioli to sashimi to great filets of the meat and fish variety. Whatever your tastes lead you to, there really aren't too many bad experiences when you get into signature dining territory.

Is Flying Fish on the dining plan and can you make reservations?

DW and I loved Flying Fish four years ago and are going back for "Gramps Date Nite" in April. Excellent service, outstanding food, great location for an after-dinner stroll on the boardwalk, or a walk over to Epcot, or a boatride to Hollywood Studios.

We've also been to them all at least a few times. :rotfl: Jiko is a favorite but honestly, it's the appetizers that are killer here; the entrees are not up to the same level IMO. Does have a nice adult type of atmosphere here.

Flying Fish, great food all the way around but can be noisy. Citricos also has a more "fine dining" menu than some of the other signatures but has my least favorite dessert selection.

CG and Narcoosees are both more casual and noisy. CG is worth it for the sushi but I haven't been overly impressed with the other dishes. Narcoosees is my least favorite.

Yachtsman, good food but not anything unique, standard upscale steakhouse fare. Service has always been top notch here.

Artist Point, food is good but the restaurant is so rustic that it doesn't feel like a treat to me.

The only 2TS I have not tried is Spirit of Aloha.

I have reservations at Jikos in March. May I ask what you and your party ordered and why you thought it was so fab? THANKS.

Jiko is leading the pack right now. They are firing on all cylinders.
Great meal last week.

I've been to all. If I HAD TO CHOOSE my favorite. They are all so good. I'd have to pick citricos but narcoosee's gave it a run for the money. And flying fish is RIGHT UP THERE TOO. These 3 are really almost too close to call.

I'm excited to try Cali Grill again. The only time I went= I was pregnant- my tastes were all out of whack & I LOVE sushi & that night- I got sick thinking about it. Plus I ordered all wrong. I anticipate a better trip. My DH loved it.
==========================

Jiko & Artist Point are my least favorites. We've been to AP a few times & while good- I'm never blown away. I've tried Jiko twice & am willing to give it another shot- there were some dishes that were wasted on me.

Citricos, California Grill, La Cellier, Spoodles, are all great and you won't regret going.

But for me: Artist Pointe & Flying Fish are the best
