What have you "rope-dropped" in real life?

I recently read a blog article about applying you Disney skills in other travel situations. I started me thinking about other situations in my everyday life that I apply my Disney skills to, specifically the strategy of rope dropping. For a time during Covid Aldi had 30 minutes of extra time for vulnerable people to shop (which my health status made me eligible for.) Of course that is barely enough time to get through the store so I did a few things to maximize my time. I drew a map of the store and created my "touring plan" each week with my "must-do's" (buy's), I made sure I had my quarter handy in my pocket for the cart, I arrived a bit early for rope drop then hopped out of my car when I saw the CM (employee) start to unlock the door. I spent that first 30 minutes sticking to my list and moving purposefully from one item to the next. Then I took my cart full of groceries to my car and sacked them in my hatchback to get out of the store as quickly as possible. I was usually walking out just as the general public was walking in.

What else have you all rope dropped or otherwise applied your Disney skills to?

When I was much younger and you could only buy movie tickets at the ticket window, i remember lining up more than once an hour before the box office opened so I could get a ticket to see a film and grab the best seat in the house

We often talk about our ”Disney training” in real life. Concert tickets. Competitive race registrations. But our most fun was “rope dropping” Target during lockdown to get the “good” toilet paper :rotfl2:

In Ireland, when we started our Covid Vaccine program, it was strictly by age and you had to register on a website. Most people went onto the website from 9am onwards and there were all sorts of issues, and the website crashed and then there were huge wait times on the phones as people rang the help line to register.

Sound familiar :earboy2:

I worked out that the website was automatically set to unlock the next year at midnight. When my moms birth year and when my birth year unlocked at midnight, I did the registrations so easily, with no fuss and no issues on the website. Took me less than 10 minutes and I even had time to print out the information before clicking submit.
