Many years back, I left a nightgown in the hotel room. The hotel was very gracious to send it to me. Now I check and re-check the room before leaving.

At Aulani we left a bunch of reusable bags we had bought for presents and some other souvenirs that were down at the side of a chair.
I emailed them about it and never heard anything back.
DD also left her charging cable there and also never heard back

Somehow I left behind the pants and shirts that DH and I wore last July 4 in Kilarney, Ireland. I have NO idea how it happened. We always check over the room carefully. The only thing I can think is that they were in plain sight folded on a chair and we overlooked them, being too focused on checking drawers and closet space. Didn't realize they were gone until we were home and doing laundry a week later!

My son forgot to bring a plaque that we purchased for him when he did the Kyle Petty Dream Car Experience when there was a racetrack on Disney property. This was his graduation present and after the park half of the vacation we went on the Dream for a cruise, this is where he forgot it. We're guessing it fell out of his suitcase which was under the bed. A couple of months after we got back I received a package in the mail. Looks like someone turned the plaque in and Disney mailed it to us. Very happy about that!
