What have i done?!? Air tran to southwest conversion horror story

I was prepping for a June 2015 trip that looks like is now bumped up to Dec 2014. In my excitement, I just transferred a few Air Tran credits to my Southwest account. I was thinking the credits transferred to rapid rewards points. But upon a more detailed read, it looks like I am stuck with credits on my southwest account. If you transfer, rather than waiting for them to convert them for you, it looks like they remain as credits and are not converted to points.

So my question now is, what the heck if anything can I use 2.5 credits for on Southwest? Am I reading it right to think you need the full X number of credits for an award and anything below that X number is useless?
