We have had 20 years of declining enrollment, schools being closed and the property being sold off, rising property values and thus increase in tax revenue and voters approving special additional tax levies so the schools have budget surpluses. Do they spend the money on smaller classes, tutors, etc? No. They spent millions replacing the chain link fence around most of the schools with wrought iron fencing! 5 years ago they remodeled most of the school buildings because they were older (60 years old typically) and looked dated, upgraded the wire to handle technology, now they are tearing down those schools and building new ones.Paying school taxes, when I never had kids - LOL!
But I pay my school taxes, and yes I have two kids who never spent a day in a public school. But that was my choice.
