What has got more and more annoying as you have got older?

Paying school taxes, when I never had kids - LOL!
We have had 20 years of declining enrollment, schools being closed and the property being sold off, rising property values and thus increase in tax revenue and voters approving special additional tax levies so the schools have budget surpluses. Do they spend the money on smaller classes, tutors, etc? No. They spent millions replacing the chain link fence around most of the schools with wrought iron fencing! 5 years ago they remodeled most of the school buildings because they were older (60 years old typically) and looked dated, upgraded the wire to handle technology, now they are tearing down those schools and building new ones.
But I pay my school taxes, and yes I have two kids who never spent a day in a public school. But that was my choice.

Yep!

...And technology advancements that actually make things more difficult.

Yep!

Social media's affect (Facebook especially) on people in varying ways. That's something that's just gradually gotten worse as more people sign up and more people are born into it. ...

Yep!

I don't like the way it has distorted actual reality and influenced priorities. Sometimes, quality of life lies in simpler things and it seems like they're getting buried under the online story of life.

This current and future generations of kids. No work ethic, showing up to work when they want to. Thinking they are so entitled and if you say something wrong to them they will go nuts.

I'm sorry your family members have no work ethic. All my nieces and nephews (end of Millennials/start of Gen Z) are all hard workers and have great careers. Very proud of how they turned out.
Now don't get me started on those entitled Silent Generation/Boomers! Oh some of those generation drive me insane!

eta - comment about boomers is hyperbole. I don’t actually believe this, every generation has nice people and not so nice.

Kids that have not been taught to respect their elders
To be fair, just because you are older, does not entitle you to respect. Some "elders" deserved to be yeeted of a cliff (as the young folk would say). Having said that, I am teaching my kids to be respectful, but take no crap. Just because someone is elderly, does not give them a right to treat my kids badly or say stupid, rude things.
  • people who expect everyone else to cater to them and their whims. In other words, self-absorbed people.
  • people who have no tolerance for people who don't agree with them
  • people who embrace cancel culture
  • people who can't laugh at themselves
All of this. I am not responsible for your triggers. While yes, I certainly try to be considerate of others and think before I speak, I cannot know everything you might get upset about.
Cancel culture... Can we cancel that?

I'm pretty sure the poster never said anything about her family members. But way to attack someone's family because you don't agree with what they said. Glad your nieces and nephews are awesome. However there are a TON of people out there who have zero work ethic across all the generations. But I mostly see it in younger generations. I see it every day where I work. My kids are too young to be working yet as they are only 7 & 10.
I'm adding people who attack others or bring their family into the conversation because they don't agree with them to the list of things that anny me.

Sorry assumed PP was talking about people she knew.
Maybe she was just making a blanket statement.

Work ethic varies widely among all generations.

- Children not being taught basic manners
- Children - young children - given Ipads/phones to entertain them when in reality it's causing more harm... rant over...
- Woke/cancel culture - so over it.
- lack of just "human kindness" and caring about other people in general

-people who are not tolerant of others' POV
-people who post stupid political stuff
-people who post blanket statements about entire generations (huge pet peeve of mine from a FB local group I'm in)
-pettiness in general

Kids should at least show good manners to other people, adult or otherwise. I am amazed at how differently I am treated since I have gotten older. Hopefully I will not be thrown off a cliff.

Treat others as you want to be treated. If someone says something mean or hateful to my kid, they do not have to respond kindly. I'm surprised at how many older people think it's ok to say to my kid " you're awfully small for your age" or to the other " you're pretty hefty there, aren't you?" Like children aren't smart enough to realize they are being called fat, or too small. My kids 100% have my permission to respond back with that same energy. Call my kid fat, he can tell you you look like an old witch. Im ok with that. Maybe old people need to relearn manners. Now having said that, after my kid talks back to said person, he will also hold the door open for them to leave so it doesn't hit them in the butt on the way out because my kids have manners and know whats appropriate.

Curious how my kid watching shows on Nat Geo or playing math games while waiting an hour for food is causing them any harm?

I agree with you on the rest of it though.

EVERYONE should show good manners to other people not just kids. Perhaps the kids are learning by example? If older generations show good manners (and correct young ones when needed) they will learn.

Sorry but I despise the "bash on young people" trend.

Other poster was attacking MY family by saying young people lack work ethics.
Considering I am the mother of young adults is the poster saying I’m a bad mother? She attacking my children’s work ethics,

Not my post, but I did "like" it, so I feel like I should explain:

A small amount of time in the circumstances you described doesn't really bother me.

What I worry about is how much time many little ones today spend on devices - time that used to be spent on imaginative play and reading (and sometimes even sleep) and it's very easy for it all to get out of balance.
