What has been your best carry out food!

Sometimes we may want to eat at the camper but I may not want to cook. What has been your best carry out food at the fort? Is their somwhere outside the fort you could go and get breakfast or dinner and bring it back to the camper?

Oh, and this isn't onsite, but heard Publix has a great deli take out...how viable an eat in choice that is, or how many min away, I don't know. Same with DTD Earl of Sandwhich.

In addition to the Giddyap and Go bucket of chicken, we liked the nachos and pizza for another night's dinner. We also got a few orders of wings one night and salad.

Trail's to Go is really good. You have to order in person and you get a beeper that will go off when your order is ready. You can't call ahead, unfortunately.

Well the pizza at the Fort has its fans like Diva and it also has its detractors like me.

There is no right or wrong answer here - you should probably try it once.

We choose to get delivery from the Papa Johns nearest the Fort. They deliver to the Fort checkin area/Outpost and we get two Large/The Works for $25 then add the driver tip of $5. The number is 407-477-7777.

For 5 people paying $6 per person for hot delicious pizza is pretty sweet. I have 3 teenagers who eat like horses so there are no leftovers.

PS - we usually get the 10 piece chicken dinner called the Giddyup & Go (aka GAG) with the sides on our first night at the Fort after we check in and set up. It's very good.

I gotta admit, I am going to have a hard time eating anything other than Dis while we're there. That's like going out to eat & getting pasta (for me) cause we eat it ALL THE TIME. I can get Papa John's at home.. I'd probably get the GAG twice before getting delivery.

Then again- who knows.. I might REALLY need some pizza one night..

There's a limited menu at the Pool snack bar. We usually get a Southern Smothered Hot Dog sometime during our stay. But they close early...maybe 5 p.m.

All I know about is the take out Chicken and Pizza. We had both while we were there. The pizza is fine, but not great IMO.
The real surprise to me is how delicious the buffet is! We went twice! (And yes, the pizza and chicken is the same on the buffet, of course.)

I believe Trails End does pulled pork sandwiches and a side as well. Might be worth the try.
Have you thought about taking a crock pot and putting something in it the day you know you will be back for dinner? Pork roast or butt with a bottle of BBQ sauce on low 8 hours is a nice treat to come back to. Shred it, put it on a bun with pickles and you've got dinner.

That's my favorite too -- the price seems reasonable and we like the mac & cheese and mashed potato sides.
