I am trying to decide where to book a lunch or dinner on my child's birthday. It would be nice to know what each of the restaurants have done in the past for birthdays.

Thanks for the information.

At the Luau they pull all the B-day people up on stage to dance.

You can order a cake from the restaurant. We're having my son's birthday dinner at LTT. When I made the PS, I was able to request a birthday cake for $10.

We don't have any children yet, but we did just celebrate my husband's birthday over spring break...

The CM was kind enough to add it was his birthday to all of our PS times, so he had plenty of surprises.

Those included: a birthday card from Mickey at our resort, cupcakes at Ohana and Chef Mickey's, a birthday cake at Teppanyaki, a chocolate "moose" at Le Cellier, and lots of attention at Hoop de Doo.

We also picked up a birthday button at guest relations at the MK so lots of CMs said "Happy Birthday," and he received a special birthday phone call from Goofy!

Have fun!

We celebrated my four year old daughter's birthday at Disney this year. We got ressies for the Cinderella breakfast in the morning. They sat us down in the "birthday" table which was by the window and had confetti and balloons decorating it. The characters all knew it was her birthday and spoke to her about it. It was a REALLY special day. We stayed in the Grand Floridian RPC and they sent her a stuffed animal (can't remember which character) and I arranged for a balloon bouquet which was delivered while we were at the parks. We got her a pin from City Hall which identfied her as a "birthday" guest and many CM's wished her a happy day.

Our room overlooked the castle and when we woke up the castle was lit up in purple hues. We stepped out on the balcony when we woke up and I said "LOOK! Cinderella knew purple was your favorite color and she lit up her house for you!" My daughter was so excited. Later it had turned to blue and she said "there must be a little boy at disney who has a birthday today!". When we got to the breakfast my daughter thanked Cinderella for lighting up her castle just for her. Cinderella, (Thankfully) went right along with the story. Very sweet.

What great stories. I guess I will add his (14th) birthday to all the reservations I make for the trip.

But I still would enjoy hearing about everyone else's events.

We also have celebrated an adult birthday at Disney. When I made the ps, I had his birthday noted on our two reservations for that day and also for one later in the week at Akershus b/c I knew my dh would love having those beautiful Norwegian women singing to him. At 1900 Park Faire breakfast, they gave him a decorated over-sized cupcake. When they brought it out, the server (or maybe Alice -- can't remember) had everyone in the restaurant to sing happy birthday to him. Then all the characters visited again. Lots of fun. At Boma, he also was given a huge decorated cupcake, but no fuss. At PF, I reminded the hostess that it was his birthday. At Boma, I told the hostess and the waiter.

Our lunch at Akershus was several days later, and I had forgotten I had asked for birthday treatment, so I was as surprised as him when all the servers in the restaurant came with a cake (not cupcake), a certificate and a wonderful Norwegian song. He loved it! And they even boxed the remainder of the cake for us to take back to the resort.

We also got special treatment at our resort, Yacht Club. I sent a very nice fax with a birthday cake on it before arrival. I didn't ask for anything specific, just that his birthday be as special as possible at our favorite resort. We were upgraded from standard to water view and balloons and a card were sent to the room.

last April was a really great. We celebrated at the princess breakfast at CRT. All chracters acknowledged her special day; CM brought here a B-Day cupcake; Cinderella and Prince Charming signed a special "B-Day procalmation" certificate that we saved and put in DD's scrapbook.

Also, at AS Sports resort DD received an autographed 5x7 of Minnie along with a bouquet of balloons. Quite unexpected and quite amazing!

One word of warning. Don't go on your trip expecting anything special to happen for your child's birthday.

There are plenty of threads on the boards about people who plan their trips around a special day. They tell everyone when they are making resort reservations and PS that they will be celebrating a special day. When they get to WDW, for what ever reason none of the CMs comment on their special day, and nothing special is done. Sometimes it happens.

If you really want to make your child birthday special, it may be a good idea to arrange some things in advance. That way you know for sure they will happen.

Here are a few links dealing with this.

We celebrated our daughters 7th birthday in May this year. I told the CM at POR front desk the day before it was her birthday. I also asked if I could buy a cake anywhere on site. They told me to go to boatwrights. Boatwrights told me to go to Riverside Mill bakery. The CM there said they didnt do them anymore. I asked if there was anywhere onsite to buy a cake and they said they didnt know. Maybe this was because of the rehab at POR.:(

We could not get a birthday cake for DD wwhich was dissappointing. Luckily we got breakfast at Chef Mickeys and she got a signed placemat, birthday cupcake and lots of attention.:D :jester:

We just celebrated by DS 5th birthday. We went to Cape May for breakfast and he received a birthday cupcake, an autographed balloon from the characters and Chip & Goofy along with some servers helped sing Happy Birthday. For Dinner we went to Chef Mickey's, my DS received a birthday pin and special placemate. They also gave him a birthday cupcake and Chip or Dale danced around with him after they gave him the cupcake. We were also lucky enough to have received a little birthday celebration in our room at the Beach Club, there was a chocolate cake, hats, blowers, balloons and a card from Mickey. When I booked our resort the CM asked me the age of the child and I said that he would be turning 5 during the trip and she replied "oh, yes, I see, on May 6" (which was pretty scary that they knew that). The only other mention of his birthday I made was to the concierge staff that I was having trouble getting a PS for Chef Mickey's for his b-day dinner. They told me they would take care of it.

I hope your child receives some birthday magic!

We celebrated a birthday once at the Garden Grille in the Land at Epcot. We had told them when making the ps and when we checked in that we were celebrating a birthday. Mickey and Pluto came over with a few of the servers to sing happy birthday and brought over a cake to do it with. It was a nice touch, but we were hoping and not expecting anything special.

We are leaving in two weeks and it will be my DD's 2nd birthday. The CM I was making PS's with checked all the restaurants we are at and made note of it. When I called WL for something they also made note of it and said there would be a card (or something like that I can't remember exactly) waiting for her from a charector. I didn't even ask and both CM's went out of there way to make sure it was known it was her birthday. I thought that was very sweet of them.

I would tell the CMs when making the PS, when you checkin at the restaurant and the server. I would also let the resort know ahead of time and then mention it when you checkin. I hope your son has a magical birthday.
Even if you do not let the CMs ahead of time they may do something. Two years ago it was my BILs, uncle's birthday the day we ate at 50s PrimeTime, which we did not know when we made the PS. BIL's mother told our server and he got a card, a cupcake and the servers singing Happy Birthday.

LTT decorated our table with streamers and balloons and the characters made a huge deal about my sisters bday, then they brought her out a card and a cake (which I had ordered in advance) she was soooooo embarrassed she was turning 13, but she couldn't stop talking about it the whole trip. The same trip she was sung happy bday to about 3x's by CM's (make sure to get a birthday pin at city hall)

When my DD turned 4 we celebrated at Chef Mickey's they also decorated and brought her a cupcake and card

I think the LTT experience was the best, but celebrating a bday in WDW IMHO is magical wherever it takes place ;)

I would not expect anything.

My DS will be turning 6 on our next trip. We have dinner planned at chef Mickey. I decided on not getting him a cake, as they have cupcakes there. I may order balloons or something (I have to check into that) and we are bringing his gifts (2 or 3) for him to open at the restuarant.

In 1999 my dd turned 6 while at WDW. She had her b-day dinner at Crystal Palace. She had a card signed by Pooh and friends, a huge cupcake, with candle. Then Pooh and friends came over and sang Happy Birthday with our server and several other servers. It made for one of the best photos from our trip. My dd's face was, as the commercial says...'priceless' when she saw the characters come over with the card and singing to her. I just sat there and cried.
