I don't know this has ever happened but what if you are flying to Orlando & miss your flight but your checked bags make the plane. What happens if your supost to do Magic Express? Do they pick your bags up for you but do they know which Resort your staying at & if they do, are the bags transported there & held in the luggage area of the Resort until you arrive? Or because you would have not checked in for Magic Express are your bags kept at Orlando International Airport until you arrive?

I have never used ME, so have no idea.

It would be odd to make it in time to check your bags, but miss your flight. The only way I could see this happening would be your own fault in not making it to the gate in time.

Bingo! :)

It has been said that bags are not transported to Disney until you check in at the welcoming area, to prevent guests from using ME only as a luggage service.

Technically Disney (or anyone else) is not supposed to remove baggage from the airport without the permission of the owner, and scanning your vouchers as you board the bus is considered to be your consent.

It is possible for a passenger to be bumped after his baggage has been put on the plane. For a short time after 9/11/01 airlines were expected to do what they had to do (including violating their bump rules and bumping order) in order to prevent baggage from going on a flight ahead of the owner but I suspect that nowadays many slipups occur regarding this.

100% of checked bags are now screened, either by X-Ray or by being physically searched. The rule requiring that checked bags go on the same flight as the passenger has been repealed.

Bags can make it to MCO without the passenger if the passenger was bumped, was standing by for the flight and didn't clear or didn't make to to the gate on time.

All the offical information says the bags are held at MCO until the guest checks in at the DME desk.

True, but when I have seen this happen, the baggage has been offloaded. I suppose that it doesn't always happen.
