What happens when the 4th of July falls on a Sunday?

For those working - who have the 4th of July as a paid holiday - does your employer give you Monday off ?

If not, will you take it off anyhow?

Just trying to figure out what traffic will be like on the Monday right after the 4th..

We are off Monday (I think this is standard for most companies).

around here the standard is if the holiday falls on sunday, we get monday as a paid holiday. if it falls on a saturday, we get a paid holiday on friday.

i only know one person who works at a 9-5 salaried job that doesn't have monday off.

Yes, we have Monday, July 5th off as a paid holiday.

Yep, we're off Monday, July 5, too.

In our town, the 4th of July parade will be held July 5, but the fireworks will still go off the evening of the 4th. I guess if they did the parade on the 4th, it would interfere with church services.

In the bank, when 4th of July hits on a Sunday, July 5th Monday is a holiday.

If it falls on a saturday, then we just get a float holiday, which we can use at anytime.

PS: Banks will be closed Monday, July 5th. So bank traffic on Friday July 2nd will be EXTREMELY HEAVY!!!! If possible avoid going to the bank that day.

At the company I work for, we are getting July 5th off as the holiday. (Holiday on Sunday, get the Monday off; holiday on Saturday, get the Friday before off).

I would venture a guess that the 5th of July would be a Monday.

Yes, we get Mon off.

However, since Christmas falls on a Sat and New Years Day falls on a Sat, we do NOT get Friday (or any other day) off.
Why? Because Christmas is a "relegious" holiday.....

Oh, and only 1/2 are allowed to take it as a vacation day. Have to have coverage, you know......

Even though it's not my weekend to work, it's my holiday to work so I still have to go in.

I work at a community college and it's just a goofy holiday for us. Students and faculty have the day off. Administrators, part-time support staff, and student employees have to work.

I am full-time support staff and my union (we're all in different unions) chose to have July 5th off instead of January 2 (which we had to take as a vacation day because the college was closed).

So...my staff and administrators will usually fight to have the day off and I work all day for coverage. The nice part is that I was taken out of the equation this time around so they all have to work and I get to stay home! This usually doesn't happen--I usually play the nice guy and work so others can take time off. So--woo hoo for me! I think we're going to my mom's cottage on Lake Michigan.

I get Monday off. My company works it that if a holiday falls on Saturday we get Friday off, if it's on Sunday we get Monday off. My DH gets Friday AND Monday off.

I consult for a local grocery (gro-shree!) chain that's closed on Sundays anyway, so they're giving a floating holiday.

We have July 5th off to observe July 4th. If the holiday falls on Saturday we have Friday off and if the holiday falls on Sunday we have Monday off.

Yep, we are off Monday too I think our town does the parade and fireworks that day as well.
