What happens to the luggage?

Ok...I've cruised with Disney once before, but we used the DCL big bus (expensive bus!!!) to take us from the airport to the port. This time we're using a livery service. Can someone tell me what happens to the luggage that we bring from the airport to the port? PLEASE tell me they take it at check-in so that we don't walk around with ALL of our luggage until we can get into the staterooms. I know this might be a silly question, but as the amount of luggage for our trip on Saturday seems to be getting out of control...I started worrying about lugging it around the ship for a few hours! That would be really miserable!

It has to be checked with the dock porters. Be certain to tip these folks. Luggage will be delivered to your stateroom as before.

At the disembarkation talk, the cruise director said the porters were an outside company and would expect about $1 per bag. We managed to take our own luggage on the way out but did need their assistance on the way in.

I usually give them $10.00 to $15.00. It depends on if there's just the two of us or if DD joins us. We have anywhere from 3 to 4 checked bags.

When we disembark, I tip more. It's been a bit of a hike to where the rental shuttles were (they've recently moved them), and we pile our carryons on with the rest of the bags.

They work extremely hard and have a narrow window of time to earn their tips. I've always found them to be very friendly and pleasant to work with.

Just remember to keep anything you must have or need with you in your carryons because once your luggage is checked in at the port you will not see it again until it arrives in your cabin later in afternoon/early evening.

Keep all medicines, valuables, etc. with you.

Once you give your "checked" bagage to the porter (and when you're not looking) they toss them around just like the airport luggage handlers do - just to see how durable your bags are

ahhh...I see...does this mean I shouldn't be too "relaxed" about handing over the luggage?? LOL
