What happens to points when Disney cancels an Adventures by Disney trip?

We were booked for the Rocky Mountain trip for 8/15. Disney called and said they did not get enough people for the trip and they were canceling. They offered us the week before or the week after but we can't do it. We also booked the airline through Disney and bought the insurance. We are so disappointed but I am really concerned that we are going to lose these points.Has this ever happened to anyone?

Since you traded them out for a non-DVC reservation, I'd bet you now have reservation points that cannot be used at DVC resorts. How about a trip to California and staying at one of the hotels there? Or a cruise?

I'd check this out. It's not your problem they don't have enough people. You should get all the points back with no restrictions.

Even though technically they are probably supposed to be "Reservation Status" points, since Disney cancelled, and not you, I think they will likely return them to normal status.

Thanks for the responses. We did speak to someone yesterday and the points are going to be returned as if we had done nothing. We are also going to get back all of our airfare and insurance money. :)

That's good news. Glad to hear you are back to square one on a vacation.
