What happens if you don't have enough points for a waitlist request?

I assume they just won't honor the waitlist if no points right? Or do they try to contact you first?
I had submitted a waitlist but did not specify when entering it to replace an existing reservation. If I cancel my original waitlist request, and reenter it to indicate to replace an existing ressie do I effectively move to the bank of the line waitlist wise?

If you didn't give the waitlist permission to replace an existing reservation or borrow points, then my assumption is they'll just pass you by and go on to the next person in the list. But I don't know the actual rules.

If you don’t have the points, it won’t be filled. But if you want it to replace, just call or chat with MS abs have them add a note

You don’t need to cancel and redo.

I did similar when I was a brand new member and they ended up calling me when the waitlist went through to ask if I wanted to borrow points to fulfill it. Maybe I just got lucky so I can't say if that is how they normally handle it.
