I was at Disney from Jan. 19-24.
On our arrival day (1/19), we went to Epcot. While waiting in the standby line for Maelstrom, I received an e-mail indicating that Test Track was down and I had a FP+ for it coming up soon. It gave me options of other rides I could ride instead, or I could wait and see if TT came back up. DH and I decided to go over to TT during the FP+ window to assess the situation and see if we could talk to someone to find out what the chances would be like of it coming back up (it was already after 5 PM). It was actually running at that time and we were able to ride, so that worked out well for us.
Fast forward to our departure day, Jan. 24. I had a FP+ for EE from 10:05-11:05 AM. We got over to the ride area at 10:07. It takes me a minute to get up the courage to get on that ride, so I wanted to watch the trains come down the drop a few times before getting in line. We stood there...and stood there...and stood there. No trains. Then, we saw everyone coming backwards out of the queue. I looked at the MDE app and sure enough, it indicated a temporary closure of the ride. However, I didn't receive an e-mail about my FP+. We decided to go do other things for awhile and check back later. We needed to get on the road early in the afternoon. I checked the app for a final time around noon and it was still closed. I checked again once we were on the road, and of course, it had come back up.
My question is, had I stayed in the park, could I have talked to a cast member about the situation and still ridden? I doubt I was the only one in that boat. Did I not get an e-mail because my ride window had already opened when it went down, even though I hadn't gotten in line yet? Just wondering how this situation is handled.
